Re: Hopkins Valley Access

Hi, Intersted is some info on Hopkins valley, Whats public access like and if so what side is the more scenic drive? What condition is the Godley river track in? Is Black forest station worth the drive? In my opinion: Hopkins side is better than Dobson, ( beside the public access access) as you driv...

EFS nissan safari fron springs install

Hi Guys, I am in the process of installing two inch lifted EFS springs into my safari. The old springs were sitting flat on the springplate, while the new is not flat. See attachment. Is there should be a "spacer" / "rubber ring" under it ? The kit did'nt include anything like th...

Safari King Pin Bearing Seal?

Hi I have started to overhaul my swivel hubs, due to a axle seal leak. Took my king pins out and there is a seal / cap under the bearing on the CV side. Have removed one so I can get the bearing race out, but it got a bit unhappy with my removal procedure. Is there a way (beside luck and patience), ...

Re: Help with PTO winch service

Hi,
Thanks for the info:
ali drums don't like side load of plasma rope, you can do it multi time with wire rope ,
plasma it doesn't last,

So what upgrades do you recomend to do to run plasma rope? Also from where one would buy a non aluminium drum for a Safari PTO?

Many thanks

Re: Help with PTO winch service

Hi, Yep, it is a safari PTO, as I figure the step down shoulder of the hub was well and truly stuck in the spacer disc, the rest of the winch come apart easy as. The oil in the gear side was more as a melted butter mixed with water than oil. Give it a good clean up, but still trying to work out why ...

Re: Help with PTO winch service

Hi

Thanks for the replys, managed to pull it apart. The hub was well and truly stuck in there.
Needs a fair bit of clean up, the seals are old and hard, but the bearings and gears are in very good condition.
So a few days of srapeing, scrubing, and I shoud have a working winch.

Thanks

Help with PTO winch service

Hi Guys I have started to service my PTO. Don't think it has been apart since the truck rolled off the assembely line. Took me a day of soaking in CRC and a lot of gentle persuation just to separate the winch from the u-joint at the shear pin. Now, to pull off the free spool hub, no joy after days o...

MCC rear bars for Safari

Hi Guys

Anyone has any (good, bad, or otherwise) experience with MCC rear bars with tow bar and wheel carrier?
I am thinking about to put one on a LWB Safari. All the reviews I can find are a few years old, and things change with time.
Or any other suggestion as far as rear bars go?
Thanks

Re: Question on Surf wide axle conversion

I assume you have a solid front axle? If so you need an FJ60 front rotor, drill new mount holes so it can bolt to the IFS hub and either: -bolt it directly to the hub, machine ~2mm of the back of the caliper mount points, drill to thread out of the hub and bolt the caliper (you'll need the IFS cali...
