Re: 80 Series interior water leak... Go on Tu's, Laugh...
My 80 did leak from D pillar also, both sides, would fill the rear quarters and boot carpet would get wet. Pulled the external trim off the cabin vents and re-sealed around the vents where they sit against the chassis. You could see pretty easily the double sided seal tape was no longer sealing and ...

Re: Welding helmets..
Generally you need to have four Arc sensors to work with TIG, otherwise you'll get a flash before it darkens. Speedglas are really good, Miller another quality brand. Have had one of their Digital Elite helmets for a few years now, used daily, cant fault it.

I have some 15 or 20mm (cant remember) ones in the rear, gets through VTNZ warrant everytime.
Re: 16" M/T's
33" and 16x10s your going to need quite a body lift for tyres to clear in the back of the front wheel arch. I had 32" on factory rims (16x7 +15) on mine with 2" body lift, wasn't heaps of room. if you do a SAS like I've just done then you can fit 35" with plenty to spare. :) Yea...
16" M/T's
Hey guys, been running a set of 265/75/16 (31.5x10.5) Achilles XMT's on my 185 Surf, they have been a good tyre on and off road so far, but looking to go 33's so I dont need to be so hard on it going through trails. Hoping to take a more refined approached as opposed to just using "momentum&quo...

Re: 185 Series Suspension
Adjustable shocks sound like the way to go, best of both worlds then really.

Re: 185 Series Suspension
What you're describing sounds like the shocks are too hard. Yeah you're probably right there. Also from memory, I think the guys at Autolign said the spring rates were up 30% over factory too, which Im sure isnt helping. Its hard to find springs that give you a proper 2" lift (50mm) that have ...

185 Series Suspension
Hey guys, lifted my 185 Surf about 6 months ago, 2" Dobi lift springs and Raw Predator shocks up front and Raw Nitro shocks in the rear. Happy with the height, ride quality on the road is okay, doesnt sag too much with the car trailer on it and with the boot loaded up. But the ride is so harsh ...

Re: 97 surf tires an rim offset
Ive got 285/75/16 XMT's on my 185 Surf. I wouldnt go bigger without a body lift as these did rub in the front when turning (factory ride height). The tires just touched the corner of the front bumper and rubbed hard on the back where the bottom bolt for the flare is. 16x8 -35 offset, tyres sit out 1...

Re: KZN185 Center Diff Won't Lock
I may be wrong but I thought when centre diff was locked it ensured the front & rear driveshafts would spin at same rate ... it doesn't effect the individual diffs. A locker in each diff will determine that. Yes which would mean he should have one rear and one front wheel spinning. Thats correc...

Re: KZN185 Center Diff Won't Lock
I can hear the electric actuator working and the front hubs engaging when I press the button on the transfer lever, but when shifting the transfer lever down to H4L, nothing happens, can't hear the electric actuator working. So what tells the actuator that the transfer level is in H4L? Is there an i...

Re: KZN185 Center Diff Won't Lock
how can you tell the centre diff is not engaging? The orange light between the 4 green wheels isn't illuminated on the dash, and when I took it out to the beach (which is when I noticed there was an issue), I got stuck and only one rear wheel was spinning, which would confirm that the center diff i...

KZN185 Center Diff Won't Lock
Hey guys, new to this 4WD stuff but no stranger to cars/motorsport. Picked up a standard 96 Hilux Surf, 1KZ-TE, auto, few miles on the clock it seems to go alright. Only problem I have is the 4WD and center diff isnt working as it should. I can press the button on the transfer lever and it will enga...
