Re: GQ Y60 TD42Problem 2: fuse blowing
Thanks, yes it is a 24v safari. So if the 24v/12v reducer is basically a transformer and the two coils are not directly electrically connected in the same circuit then the short must be between the reducer and the battery (probably after the fuse box I am thinking rather than before it)? unless it i...

GQ Y60 TD42Problem 2: fuse blowing
HI again, Problem 2... I have one fuse that keeps going - when it goes I lose tachy, volt gauge, instrument lights and (bizarrely) the electric windows. Replacing the fuse fixes everything...but it goes again...I figure I have a wore that it is intermittently touching an earth somewhere but where to...

GQ Y60 TD42 Problem 1: Warm Air in Rear, Lukewarm in front
Hi all, this forum really helped me previously...thanks for that...now i have 2 more probs... First: I cant get really warm air out the front heater. The rear heater produces much warmer air than the front which is lukewarm at best. The wife wears two puffer jackets in the front on clod days just to...

Manual td42 gq y60...dash bulb question
My dash light wasnt coming on when i flicked the diff lock switch in my manual td42 gq y60 safari. I did all the diagnostics and worked out the rear factory diff was working perfectly so assumed blown bulb in dash. When i took out instrument cluster there was no bulb or bulb holder. But there was on...

Re: Brake proportioning valve

The bolt that sticks out isnt supposed to move then?
What does it do then? Is it maximum travel adjuster or something. The actual lever bit moves.

Re: Brake proportioning valve
Pretty much yes i gave it a push and nothing happened. It is sticking out past the metal bit on the spring. I applied some oil wd40 to see if it is just stuck and have left it to soak in. Then i will go have another push at it.

Re: Brake proportioning valve
Dont generally pull anything heavy at this stage. Every so often load her up with full camping kit, rack on the roof and diesel jerry can etc. So it is heavy but not super heavy at the back end.

Brake proportioning valve
Hi, While under my gq y60 safari lwb sorting my factory diff locker i noticed the brake proportioning valve attached to the load sensor spring seemed to be stuck with the rod mostly out. Is there anything that can be done to repair or recondition or do i need to replace it? I will likely shortly put...

Re: Noobie questions - suspension and diff locks gq y60
If it's a 1999 then you have a GU or Y61 and they didn't come out as Mavericks. Only Patrols/Safari's. Is it lwb or swb?. Can you put a pic up pls? Just re-read your post...a 24v Maverick???!!!. Something doesn't stack up and definitely would like to see a pic! Nope definitely gq y60. I think it is...

Re: Noobie questions - suspension and diff locks gq y60
Hi Colin, that's a bit confusing. ...GQ's ended their run before '99. Are you sure of the year?. The Maverick was the Ford badged version for Nissan and only brought out in Aust in 12v. Basically they had the same engines and running gear. Have a Google search on GQ diff locks "vacuum actuator...

Noobie questions - suspension and diff locks gq y60
Hi all, Pardon my ignorance. I bought what is basically a gq y60 low roof. Made in NZ in 1999 as a maverick but on a nissan chassis. 2 main questions: 1. If i put in a suspension lift of 50mm or less do i need a LVV cert? I was planning a 50mm body lift too so nee an LVV for that but wondering about...

Hi, bit nervous about posting as i just bought a 4x4 and slightly woŕried that everyone is going to say i bought the wrong thing! Anyway....here goes...it is a Safari Granroad (a 1999 low roof Maverick type) with 4.2L NA diesel Y60 TD42 engine and LWB. Seems to be a capable off-roader; originally wa...
