Re: Recovery point safe or deadly
I'm using my towbar as well, but it was pointed out that as my mounting bolts are about 200 mm higher mounted on the chassis, therefore any pull isin't directly line, its going to be more of an arc - does this matter? depends what your pulling and how. if its just an easy slippery track and an easy...

Re: Recovery point safe or deadly
Yup assuming the tow bar is appropriately attached what you have described is pretty standard I'm using my towbar as well, but it was pointed out that as my mounting bolts are about 200 mm higher mounted on the chassis, therefore any pull isin't directly line, its going to be more of an arc - does ...

Re: Delica/Triton greasing nipple help
interesting that the delica is like that. as the pajero has grease nipples on almost everything Until the Gen 3 & 4 came along in 1999, there is only 1 grease nipple on the whole vehicle! Very backwards. You must have a base model  Its actually a Chamonix which is a higher spec Delica ...

Re: Delica/Triton greasing nipple help
interesting that the delica is like that. as the pajero has grease nipples on almost everything It appears to be a bit of a lucky dip globally about the exact equipment on any particular day that a delica owner ends up with no matter what their spec badge says. The funny thing is that the drive sha...

Re: Delica/Triton greasing nipple help
If it does require grease you could drill a 4mm hole right through bolt and tap a m5 thread that will recieve a grease nipple. Wouldnt be that hard to do with a drill press or even just using a vice and drill. Good point - But it would end up being quite an involved job for me to do. I do my own ge...

Delica/Triton greasing nipple help
Hi, I have a 2003 Delica which probably has Triton front suspension. The 3 main joint rubbers rubbers each side are flat and obviously need greasing but there doesn't seem any way to do it. On each side the top joint just has a recessed round pressed cap with no way of getting a grip on it. The bott...

Yes, I do need to clean it out as it is possibly old, but I need to fill it up with something right now, and even checking on other forums I do not know whether I'm meant be using red or green

Radiator coolant
Hi my coolant in my '93 v6 3l motor is getting low. Silly question, but I can't work out which colour it is meant to be as there is no radiator cap, and the bowl cant be seen through, and I believe it might have been topped up with the wrong one.

Getting 31's" on a newer Delica
FYI, if any of you have a 2000's higher spec Delica, here's what you need to do to get 31's" on it. 30" fit with no mods. I needed to cut an inch off the front spoiler, then take off the mud flaps and another inch off the guard. Fortunately the cuts can be covered by the mud flaps and extr...

Re: Front locked axle hub query
Thanks for the replies. Yes it is superselect with the drive flanges. I assumed it was an older design due to the fact they weren't adjustable. Petrol delica owners are always looking for ways to save petrol due to weight and a real low diff ratio. Though Crash mentioned ongoing wear with CV's etc e...

Front locked axle hub query
On my 2003 Delica (prob triton front axle) I have the older design blanked off plate, as opposed to manual or auto hubs. Therefore I am constantly spinning the front axles in normal driving probably using more petrol and probably more wear and tear long term. Will this be minimal or would the fittin...

Are SAT's still made these days? They obviously handle certain types mud very well but not on the road from my experiences.

Re: Legal tire on my 6" rims
That's interesting UBZ. I'm actually a bit stuck wondering what to do next. I have been collecting wheels and rims so have have about 7, 15" rims and 4, 16" rims with 4 road tires and 2 good 15" x 31 muds (and several other grotty ones). Ideally I want 31" or 265 x 75 on the 15&q...

Legal tire on my 6" rims
Hi,
I have a choice of using a set of 15" x 6 alloys (with road tires on them - though they can come off if need be) or a set of 16"x 6 alloys. What is the largest diameter tire size I can fit legally on them? Can I go a bit larger if I just use them as a second off road set?

Re: Different size tires
I'm used to looking a retard - I've been time rich but money poor for years. My jeep had a snorkel made out of square marley pipe and spare bolted on the roof, my previous pajero had a snorkel made out of flexitube held onto the aerial with cable ties. My trail bikes got a white warehouse cube box b...

I couldn't post on the tire thread but hopefully you can help. I've got a delica running the triton super select trans. I have 2 x 31" which I was hoping to use up front as I really need the clearance in the sand around welly. I can't afford 2 more 31" for a few weeks. My backs will be my ...

Re: Expedition 4x4 - what's best?
I have been looking at purchasing a Landrover Discovery Series 1 or posible a LWB Pajero. But, after discusing with my other half we are equally quite keen to convert the rear into a sleeping setup. Which 4x4 's provide the best setup for this? We were hoping to build a rear tray with some lower sl...

Hi moonman, to answer your original question about why you need to join a club in wellington. I have observed over 30+ years that public access has closed up around the region to just a small handful of places to go - and at anytime these can have nasty signs, gates locked, boulders, concrete blocks...

Hi from Steve in Welly
I live in Wellington and have been doing outdoor stuff all my life. I have had a wonderful 80’s SWB Pajero and a Jeep GC along with 10 years in the CCVC. As I do a lot of coastal camping and diving this Mitsi Delica is perfect. All my cooking is done out the back and the interior is free to sit or s...
