The mutts tow truck is for sale

Hey all, Getting rid of old 90 series Prado. I have had this truck for 11 years now and apart from usual wear and tear items, it has been pretty bloody good to me. Full 8 seater, certed for lift, snorkel and bars, over 5000kms in RUC credit, wofed and rego. Has 299***kms on it and still drives prett...

Don't take a 90 series into any sort of 4wd environment.
But they don't have a 2 stage transfer, they are exactly as pointed out above, H-L = high range centre diff locked.

Agree with reece 100%. I have a 60a mitech unit and have had it for 8 years or more now. My power supply is total crap and the air supply does not get dried as much as it should, but it still cuts fine. Is the pt31 hand peice the old one with the hard plastic outer shield Reece? If so, this is defin...

Re: Checkerheads new project.

Re the strength thing of the bar. Is it worth thinking about/looking at a profile cut flat plate bar out of something like 10-12mm bisalloy? Have no idea of it's structural properties etc, but it may be another option.

Re: Checkerheads new project.

You want your AS numbers to be set so you achieve good drive down on the front axle. All the other stuff will seem really unimportant when your nose is coming over your roof on the first good hill climb. I would probably look at making upper links out to 75%ish in your case. But ultimately, the call...

Re: Checkerheads new project.

Looks good fella (well you know what I mean  ). Don't solid mount a rad onto anything that has the potential to have torsional twist or shear (ie your roll cage), especially if it is alloy. They like to have lots of isolation and don't like to twist in any way, shape or form. (ask me how I kno...

Re: can i do this with my hilux SAS?

Lax you are right that bounce has more to do with the wheel base than the angle of the links or AS with out turning this thread into a debate over how AS causes this and how much AS is a good or a bad thing (been discussed before and from memory me a Rok have slight difference of opinion on the lev...

Re: can i do this with my hilux SAS?

The major advantage of coil overs is that they are contained in one unit and as such it makes it much easier to fit everything in. They are hellishly more expensive to set up how ever. Did you build in upper link adjustment on the rears so you can tune things if needed? and did you run it through th...

Re: can i do this with my hilux SAS?

Not the front so much, it is more to with the rears. It's all about the dynamics of how the rear driving wheels affect the whole suspension geometry.

Re: can i do this with my hilux SAS?

As a reply to above, Anti squat is normally governed (do not read as always) by the separation of the REAR links at the chassis end. Control arm length plays a large part in the design as well. An example of a very bad factory setup is the SWB patrol when you start lifting and putting decent rubber ...
