Re: sway bars..
I understand the principles of a torsion bar perfectly well and I'm not sayin don't do it, just that there is a possibility.... and at the end of the day finding one that can be modified with the right ends on it that will give the rate you want will be a challenge. In that respect if you do know th...

Re: sway bars..
Might be easier to make one, you'd at least get the "rate" you wanted.
Not sure I'd want to use a torsion bar especially if it's only been twisted in one direction all its life. it's a possibility it could just snap when you start twisting in the opposite direction.

Andy, I think I read your question correctly... there is no preference for someone who has competed before, just because it's your first competition does not mean you will be tossed out just because someone who had competed before leaves it to the last minute. It really is first in first served.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 2014
Tony Like I said, until now, we have had little to no interest shown by anyone with a rally truck. This sounds a little like which came first, the chicken or the egg? "if there was I class for me, I would have entered" Ok, I do not have sole discretion on whether or not to add a class for ...

ok I hear you really I do. That being said, this is probably not the place to discuss rule differences between the islands. Now with that said; we all (any host club) have the right to make previsions through supplementary rules to run whatever classes we want. And to be honest with you, I cannot re...

Mazdamike my truck wont fall under your mod class (hydro steer buggy) Modified and Outlaw are essentially the same thing, 100% hydro steer will not keep you out of the above classes in ether the north or south island. "Checkerhead" is right, I have full hydro steer in my truck and have com...

Naming and shaming is not going to do anyone any good at this late stage, especially if this accusation turns out to be unfounded, before you know it his name is tainted forever and I'm not so sure this is the place to do it. That is a big call. George; as far as I'm concerned you have nothing to ap...

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 18-20 Oct 2013
Like we have said in the past, the rules change dramatically once we “advertise” spectators as far as the fun police are concerned, so we are not advertising. This is a working farm, so all the usual rules apply. Do not bring a gun, do not bring a dog. If you bring alcohol, leave it in the car. By a...

I got at Jeep wrangler with the 35C in the back and a Hi pinion 30 up front, running 33” TSLs now on Silverstone’s. It’s a dedicated bush truck; she has also completed probably 10 or 12 winch challenges with no axle issues. In saying that: The axles are small light weight thing’s for sure and the ya...

Re: Steering box upgrade - TJ
These steering boxes are a pretty standard “Saginaw” type and are 99.9% sure the same box was fitted to all the Jeeps as well as Chevy blazers or any GM vehicle for that matter, which means you don’t have to shop for a TJ one, JY, TJ, XJ and ZJ should all be the same, except left hand drive of cours...

"TJs don't have any free wheeling hubs from the factory, they are connected all the time. There is a kit to put FWH on but it needs a different type of wheel bearing and a change of stud pattern" The kit you are talking about used to be made by “Warn” not sure who does it now, as I believe...

An air locker comes with it's own "carrier" a "lock right" does not, you fit it to your existing carrier. I am un-sure if you can fit a lock right type to a LSD carrier, but if you find you cannot, I have a D44 open carrier if you need it. You also may not be aware, that when you...

We have a brand new truck that we are desperately trying to get ready for Rotarua and are trying to sort out the rest of the year, do you have a date in November in mind and which club is hosting the finals?

Re: Triangulated 4 link Hilux Front
You will not find a triangulated 4 link front, plans or as a kit, off the shelf anywhere, this will be “custom” all the way. Rokhound is right; there are serious issues with bump steer that have to be addressed. There is no real way around this other than hydraulic steer, well there “might” be one t...

Re: JEEP WRANGLER GEARBOX BREATHER [AUTO ]
if it's a TF999 then the short answer is no. The std breather is in the oil pump housing and will have to be plugged. To do this, the torque converter has to come out and the oil pump out, then you got to drill and tap for the new breather, usually on top of the case somewhere.

While I agree with your sentiments on the slip yoke system on the Jeep transfer cases, it is pretty shitty. But don’t be so quick to toss it out. They are actually quiet a tuff unit. Just came across this and thought I’d add my little bit to the mix. I got a 87 Wrangler. Hands down, one of best modifications I have done was the 4.0 litre conversion.
