Re: Mistral ABS problems
Ok, I'm feeling a little more stable today... I found the problem!!! It was nothing to do with the ABS control unit or the wiring to it. But it took me troubleshooting all the way that far and not finding a problem to make me go back and retrace my steps. And I noticed that after I could get the lig...

Re: Mistral ABS problems
F*cking hell, 2 years later and I'm still smashing my head against a brick wall... I blame work, small children and Nissans retarded idea to put the ABS controller on the firewall... Inside the cabin! Yes, thats right the ABS control unit appears to be fkn buried up under the entire dashboard, heate...

R20 Mistral trans shifting issues
Hi everyone, I've been having problems with my RE4R01A trans not shifting up to 3rd gear. So last weekend I removed the valve body to check the solenoid's, they seemed to free up OK. But after reassembly and refilling with ATF, the trans is driving forwards in every gear (PRND21). The instruction do...

Nissan Consult diagnostic software
Hi all, has anyone got experience using Consult diagnostic software or similar? I bought a 14 pin to USB scan tool from Stahlcar auto diagnostic, but the software they supply only does engine fault codes, I particularly need to check the abs system. There are other software programs that work with t...

Re: Terrano coolant removal question.
Yep, thats how I went in today... But the plug is seized and it turned the whole fitting, which caused the water feed to the turbo to snap off. YAY! Not... So I had to take off the turbo downpipe and engine mount to get the broken bits out. I'll go into work tomorrow and braze it back together. On t...

Re: Mistral R20 Brake squeal
Well after about 5,000kms the squeal isn't as bad but it is still there... I've had them apart a couple of time and still found nothing! Wheel bearings feel fine still too. I did suspect the wheel bearings at one stage because I noticed the squeal was worse if I was going to the right on a ro...

But without taking the turbo out of the way, won't the drain plug be a bastard to open???

Hey Crash,
The rotors were replaced at the same time. All good quality Mintex stuff...
Wheel bearings are ok, I checked them not long ago. Gave them a grease and tighten.

Mistral R20 Brake squeal
Hi Team, I am getting some horrendous brake squeal after changing my front discs and pads a wee while ago. It has done it since the very first day with the new bits fitted... Now I have found a few threads about brake squeal, but they were about brake squeal when the brakes are applied. Mine is maki...

Re: Mistral ABS problems
Hi Crash, is there a control circuit in the pump itself, or just the Body control unit? Poor joints in the BCU might explain a couple of other issues i'm having with the intermittent wiper function not working and the passenger side window not working. Window works when I stick 12v straight to it, s...

Re: Mistral ABS problems
Still haven't got to the bottom of this, but I did notice something funny... On the last couple of hot days 25+ degrees, the ABS fault doesn't appear!?! I'm certain is was temp related, as it has done this on a couple of occasions. One day it was hot during the day (No ABS fault at all), the...

Re: Mistral ABS problems
Well i finally got a chance to have a good look at the abs. The front and rear sensors are definitely NOT interchangeable. The tip of the sensor is angled 45 degrees on the front. And the mounting lug direction makes them specific for left or right too. So there goes the plan of swapping them... :ev...

Cheers Crash, i did guess you'd be first in with an answer!
Are the front and rear sensors interchangeable? Also are they hard to swap?
Thats a good temporary fix, ill defo give that a try...

Re: Mistral ABS problems
Resurrecting an old post! So I have been having very similar issues. My ABS kicks in way more often the it should; I can hear the pump periodically hiss when I am driving in a straight line down the road with no brakes applied. When braking the ABS kicks in with pedal judder, and what feels like rel...

Re: Strong "Sealant" for windscreen
As mentioned before Sika products are very good.
We currently use Würth - KD bond and seal, and it is very strong! Stays flexible, so could be cut thru with a blade to remove in future. We use it to seal joins in panels on Ag machinery where we don't want to run a weld.

Re: LED head lights
For example, if your lights aren't producing much red light in the spectrum (LED's don't), then there's no red light to be reflected back at you, so you start to loose the ability to distinguish between different shades of brown and all sorts of weird stuff. That's also why LEDS make the bush look ...

Re: 7 Seater conversion
Buying a factory 7 seater would have to be the easiest option, however I removed the factory rear double seat from my mistral 7 seater as I use the boot for tools etc. The seats can fold up when not in use, and I have all seat belts to go with it too. Let me know if it's any use to you! (Ps. I'm in ...

So rear springs are gone?
Edit; Just reading your build thread and noticed you went with poly spacers in the rear (what thickness spacer?), if you still have them I'd be keen!

Hi everyone! Owen aka. Keltec here. I have a 98 Mistral r20 2.7td intercooled. I've bought it as a work hack, but it is very tidy for the age. Currently has 201,000 ish kms. Hey crash, are you still wrecking your Mistral?
I'm looking for some rear springs for mine. My springs are quite saggy looking with no load, and I'm carrying tools all the time too!
Might be interested in other stuff too depending on what's left...
