Re: Certified Self Contained?
Yeah that's true, I might call them once I have the rooftop tent with the awning below it installed. That might be just enough to tick the box on the removable/portable toilet as I see on the motor home association website some people have gotten away with having it set up in a tent/awning. Also mo...

Re: Maratoto (often known as the “Wires Track”)
It is with much regret that I must advise that all off road tracks in the Maratoto area are now closed to all vehicles. This includes the Whangamata (Wires) Track, Loop Road, Waipaheke and all tracks off these tracks. This closure is by Department of Conservation order and is due to Kauri Die Back. ...

Re: Farm land usage for 4wd events
I would agree with NJV6 that if there is no work taking place, and no money or reward (Koha, donation, free goods, and services etc) is changing hands, Work safe are unlikely to be involved. If no money or reward Adventure Activities Regulations will not apply. However, if you can drive a vehicle th...

Re: Farm land usage for 4wd events

Firstly, I don’t want to scare you off running events, but they need to be done properly The use of disclaimer that points out the responsibilities of the a...

Re: Farm land usage for 4wd events
NZFWD has done a lot of work on this and we know the situation well, and it can be complex. Who is managing the event? is this a commercial event? club event>? Who is insuring the event? Is anyone employed or a regular volunteer? is the land owner receiving money? is the landowner providing any othe...

Maratoto is now open. After NZFWDA completed work on the track DOC has agreed that the Whangamata Track (often known as the Wires Track at Maratoto is open as of now under the following conditions. Clean Vehicles DOC remains extremely concerned about Kauri Dieback. I need to make it very clear that ...

Re: Maratoto (often known as the “Wires Track”)
Any word on opening dates? I can’t confirm any date yet, but work is happening right now but more needs to be done so opening won’t be too far away. It will be open this summer. The critical thing to remember is that Kauri dieback will be a major issue so for that reason there will be an absolute r...

Hull Road, Waitoki,
Hull road is located about halfway between Kaukapakapa and Silverdale and over recent years has been used by 4x4 vehicles as a recreational drive. Over the last couple of years, the road has deteriorated and has become a very challenging drive. Auckland Transport has recently granted New Zealand Fou...

Jeeeeez. Does your digger-guy have any jobs going?? 10k is a solid week on a 13 tonner up here, and I can do a hell of a lot of damage with a 13t!! It would also equal my going rate for 4 weeks on a 2 tonner! I'm in. I can bring a 2T digger if I have to, but surely there's one more local to be had....

Re: Maratoto (often known as the “Wires Track”)
Well, I'm keen to put my money where my mouth is. Especially for that track/area, as it holds some sentimental value due to our family connection to the original farm up there, followed by our involvement (as part of the Manukau Club) in getting access back in there in the 80's. We've still got som...
