Re: St James Management Plan

Yes, they certainly do not give equal consideration to those of us who cannot walk there or ride a bike!

I've seen plenty of damage and rubbish left by trampers ans cyclists as well.

...They really don't want anyone going there at all!

I did put a submission in but seems they ignored it!

Re: Clearing up the confusion on radios....

CB is still good, but PRS is FM (quieter noise wise) as opposed to AM (with CB) and uses smaller Antennae - probably for 4x4ing in close proximity PRS is the better option. But as I say still nothing wrong with CB - I have both. CB coverage is better only if you have a long antenna (preferably 1/4 w...

Good photos! Good on yah! as they say. That 'mud hole' is much bigger in the wet season (or wetter season) the rain also make a couple of other bits more challenging! How was the dust on the road in???

Re: The 42nd Traverse

The only reason I suggest not to go alone is that if you breakdown, its a very long way to walk for help!! You should have no problem driving through by yourself this time of year. But....one never knows!!

I can't see a mountain bike towing you out!

Have fun!!

We went through early january, it was very dry and very dusty! It's an easy track, but I'm not sure even then i would do it solo, unless you have all the gear!!

I think everyone has a view and points to make. Certainly for me 4x4ing is not just 'seeing how quickly I can break my truck' trips, it is normally, like Moriaty, a means to an end, be it exploring some new area, camping, hunting etc etc... I'm sure there is room in the forums for all of that becaus...

Good stuff mate. 8) . You have written here about PRS and CB, but what about VHS? Dosnt anyone use these? Because it would be really handy to have one that can get emergency services, forecasts, AND, be able to talk to everyone.. VHF although you can have more power output that PRS or CB is still o...
