Hey guys Sorry I've been away for a while. Well it says Datsun on it but it is deffinatly a 1990 so I spose its a Navara then. Its all sweet though the rear diff of a Terrano manual diesel is the right ratio so we did the swap last week and hes back on the road again. Cheers for all the help Kent

Diff Ratio

You wouldn't know what the diff ratio is would you Wopass, it looks like the 720s came with a range of different diff ratios.

Rear diff needed for datsun Ute

My mates Datsun Ute has blown a diff and hes looking for a new one, or at least a pinion gear. Its a 1990 4wd and its the rear diff we are looking for. With a ratio 4.875.1 don't know what you round that to. If anyone has one, or knows if something else will fit in its place ie manual diesel terrano...

Diesel Clean

I had a similar thing to this done a couple of years ago with my 4.2 Safari, and it was great. A lot cheaper then getting a proper injector clean done, and deffinetly cheaper than replacing the injectors. I can't remember prices now, but around $300 - $400 sounds familar, may be wrong though. But ye...

Peg

As another turn to this, I have taken to wearing my seatbelt all the time while 4WDng, not an easy habit for me as I was a courier who spent most of my time at work not wearing one. One fun drawback I have found is that with the very handy retracting belts, they don’t roll out so well when you ar...

Yea Petemcc

I may be wrong also, but tend to agree with Petemcc, that the smaller pad should go at the front of the drum and the larger one at the back. So looking at the diagram the pad at the front(on the right) looks smaller, you can tell by those little folded over tabs of metal. One pad only reaches betwee...

SWB

I owned a SWB, and it was great, the later the year the better the back seats got, in my 88 they were pretty uncomfortable and had no leg room. But in my old mans 97 (old shape) there is much better leg room. I used to have my backseats folded up basically the whole time and would just put them down...

SWB

SWB Safari is a good option. Both of those look good. The red one has got high k's but it'll keep running for a while yet. And its had the injector pump seals done which is good. If it went for around 4 it would be a good buy, but who knows what hes got his reserve set at. And the black ones also go...

Safari

Had a 4.2 diesil safari SWB, absolutly fantastic car. Used to give it heaps and I had no serious trouble with it. Just service them reguarly and they'll keep on running. And used to tow, small diggers/boats/tractors/horses etc with it as well, absolutly fantastic tow wagon. My mate had a SWB Landcru...

Tow hook

If its like a Safari recovery point, then it would proberbly be fine, but my suggestion is to put your own hooks on anyway, 1. So that you know, they are strong and safe, cause you did it and used the right stuff 2. If its like a safari one, then it is right down underneath the car and an absolute b...

Thanks

Sweet, thanks for that, I would go for the older model as well, I love the 4.2 but he wants a little bit more comfort, and as I said he won't really be using it offroad anyway. I think he would want the extra pulling power of the 3 anyway, so thanks, will hand the info on.

3.0 L Diesel Turbo

My old man is looking at newer Safaris, he doesn't really want it for offroading mainly for towing and for a bit of work round the farm. He's thinking around the 2000s. He also wants a short wheel base and if possible an automatic. What I want to know is how good are the engines and the gearboxs in ...

Try this

That's a stroke of luck Ric - they build Toyota's tough. Speaking of luck, have you managed to separate the strops. If no joy, suggest you amputate @ loop & get Cookes to re-bind. Did it with one of mine a few years back - only cost $20.00; far cheaper than a new strop. When we have had strops ...

Yea you've got Muriwai obviously, you can head to Poutu up Dargaville way about 2 hours to get there though, still a bit of fun. There used to be some good fire breaks 2 mins out of Orewa but the new motorway has cut straight thru the middle and is turning it it into a 4 lane highway (literally). Th...

Yea we used to head up and camp up there a bit its great fun. We ran into the military one weekend, went and had a chat and they were blowing cars up.
