I wanted four new tyres for the surf and settle on the Bridgestone Desert Dueler 694, telephoned Firestone and they quoted $285 a tyre so booked it in and got the work done aweek later but then they now wanted $315 a tyre. Verbal quote means nothing to them. Thanks a lot Firestone I won't be back. ...

The Destinations are apparently made by Firestone here in NewZealand so you would think they could come up with a tyre that would go the distance on New Zealand roads. Just got an email back from Toyota.

The cost of a new Short Block for your Hilux would be $3250.00 incl. gst

A new Cylinder Head (Bare) comes in at $865.00 incl gst

We can also supply a set of Gaskets for $185.15

and also a Head Gasket for $105.80

Ring your local Toyota dealer and get a price for a brand new long block.
It may be a bit more money for a new one but a reco is still only a reco.
