Re: Jan 11th-12th

Ripped off all the silly plastic covers and front lip on the Vitara. And made up a aluminum bash plate instead. Looks alot better and offers much better protection, was stunned at how vunrable the bottom of the radiator was.

Re: suziki vitara roof racks

I got Pro-Racks from repco for my LWB when I had it, For use with a rooftent but found the roof was quite weak and prone to bending. Made up extra supports to take the weight but didnt like the mouting method of the pro-racks. IMO something with a rivet on mount or track would be best, but still wou...

Re: A question for Jimny owners

It has full instructions in the manual about flat towing and how to do it and its designed to do so. I leave the automatic in Park, with the engine running hold the transfer switch at the line just past N untill the screen on the dash says 'Neutral, Vehicle can now free roll', let hand brake off and...

Wellington Red Rocks

I'm going to be down that way on Friday and it has been a few years since I was there.
What are the conditions like going out to Tongue Point where the lighthouse is before Cave bay?
Would I be able to get there easily with one vehicle or would it be safer with two?
How far could I get safely solo?

Re: A question for Jimny owners

Jimny's with a transfer leaver do not have neutral, years ago we fitted a Sj413 transfer box into a Jimny so it could be towed behind a motorhome without the risk of rooting the gearbox from lack of oil flow (which does happen in them) Any information you can give me on fitting the 413 transfer cas...

A question for Jimny owners

Hi All, Do any of you have an older Suzuki Jimny which still has the lever for the transfercase? This prior to 2006 I think? when they went to push button 4wd. What I am trying to find out is, is there a Neutral Position on the transfercase? Failing that, I should be able to fit a Samurai tcase in b...

Re: Vitara Clutch adjustment

Double check that the rod that the clutch pedal pivots on is still straight. Both my vitara's had problems with this, its a real awkward thing to replace without removing the pedal box, but can be done. I replaced mine with a HT Bolt, its a weird size cant remember exactly, got it from steel and tube.

Well my 1.3 Samurai uses about 10lt per 100km which pretty much exactly the same as my 2.2lt 6cyl BMW. :?

The BMW is much nicer to drive on the road but not so good crossing creaks

Re: Thinking of buying a V6 4 door

I have had two 4door 2.0 v6 escudo's, a 95 and a 96 which I mainly used on the road with a little mild off road here and there. If I was to get another I would get a 1.6, they feel less heavy to drive, use less gas and go about the same. I cant remember the tank size but I was lucky to get 400km fro...

March 2-3

Spent a good part of the day making supports for a roof top tent for a mates escudo. They came up from Hamilton and were staying in Dargaville. On the way back over to Darg the shaft holding the fan snapped and sent the fan into the radiator. Towed it from Tangiteroria to Darg with my BMW, went surp...

Re: G13BA modifications

Also half way through building a manifold to fit a set of suzuki quad carbs from a GSXR - Should be interesting, could go either way, some guys report worthwhile gains, others say it was the worst thing they ever did - I guess it all depends on the set up and tunning/balancing of the carbs. That so...

Some good things to think about here!

I am watching a thread over at auszookers about rejetting the stock carb, waiting to see the outcome of that, but am thinking about it.

Seems like extractors will be the next thing on the list.

Yeah I just haven't decided what to do yet, whether to do it properly and get it road legal, or just make a trailer toy. The chassis is perfect, no rust, it's just the body that is stuffed but I've got no chance of finding a good one, unless someone decides to part out a brand new Farmworker, that ...
