BJ74 13BT Vacuum Switch Valve - 24volt

I'm looking for a replacement VSV for my 1989 BJ 74 MWB (13BT - 24 volt). Toyota says they are discontinued.
Any thoughts on a replacement or a work-around?
Prefer not to have cord hanging out of front grill to stop engine.
Part group is 17650.

BJ74 Leaking Steering Box

I have a 1989 BJ74 with a leaking steering box. I've been to Toyota for a seal kit and was told $377 for the complete kit and $227 for just the vertical shaft kit. Any ideas for alternative solutions? REPCO was no use and both them and Toyota suggested SKF or someone similar. Does anyone know the sp...

Re: radio Channels

PRS channels are basically a free for all, channels 1-8 and 31-38 are reserved for repeater use but nobody "owns" any specific channel.

UHF PRS. Make sure its not switched to a repeater channel and that you don't have duplex selected. Find someone with a PRS or a handheld and try it on channels other than 1-8.

I replaced mine with a set of Genie headers into a 2.5 inch pipe, much better now.

Re: HAM Radio (Amateur Radio)

I have my AM CB mounted on the dash and I have a Garmin Nuvi 760. My aerial is on the drivers-side front guard and I have never had any problems like yours. My LED lightbar however kicks up a shitload of interference with the CB. The frequency difference between CB and GPS is way too big to be a pro...

Re: HAM Radio (Amateur Radio)

These bands do get monitored for usage and if there isn't much or any activity some little beauracrat will be looking to sell off the rights to use them. Sadly technology and the internet will cause this to happen. Why go the harder way when IRLP, All-Star or Echo-link means you can talk to the worl...

Re: HAM Radio (Amateur Radio)

You must have the appropriate licence to operate, depending which frequencies you use. If your equipment is only capable of the PRS freqs and the power output is below 9.2 watts then you do not need a licence. http://www.rsm.govt.nz/cms/licensees/types-of-licence/general-user-licences/citizen-band-r...

I use it in my shitbox L200 (360Km) It seems to work ok, using less oil and making less smoke, not sure about the compression but at 360k it won't run as new.

I'm working through the training package to do the same.
Dual band seems the way to go, I like the idea of the IRLP system (D-Star?)
I would like to have base and mobile setups, if I ever win lotto.

I added the following to my submission: What you are doing only affects the law abiding, not the criminal elements. It is the same as trying to reduce drunk driving by making it harder for sober drivers to own cars. Pistol grips are part of the evolution of firearms just as a Ferrari or Bugatti Veyr...

From Aust 4WD Action forum: 12H-T on gas FOR THE WIN. I have a basic fumigation setup on mine (installed 7 yrs ago at 240k now 320k) by Torquegas into the induction pipe. It picks up vapour from the 20L tank (where spare tyre used to be) with a converter for safety and small manual adjustment. Trigg...
