Re: V8 Power Suzuki 413 for sale
Yep, Dion built it. I remember having a look at it when I was picking up some Suzuki parts from him about 3 years ago. Pretty sure that was in Foxton. Not sure whether he is a club member or not. I don't have contact details for him, but my brother knows him, so if you get stuck for contact details ...

Re: 1KZ-TE PRADO vs 1KD-FTV PRADO
Is there anything you can do to a 1KD to prevent / reduce "problems"? I had heard that they suffer from problems with injectors and that the latest models had helped this by fitting a fuel cooler. The theory was that the fuel was at such high pressure that it was heating up and damaging th...

Re: Land Rover Disco 1 Club Truck
The wash down is in the Wairarapa near Masterton. There is an awesome 4wd play area over the back of the farm called Area 51 (easy to get lost in the tracks). The hose is gravity feed 3 inch from a reservoir up the hill and you can hardly hold it....awesome

Off the top of Akatarawa Rd is a 4wd track called Odlins Rd taking you along the ridgetop and down into the Waiotauru catchment, theres some pretty steep shit, washouts and big drops up there so you go at your own risk and go as far as your comftable, its more suited to smaller and swb vehicles if ...

Re: 98 coil samurai questions
Rear suspension arms are weak and don't handle bigger tyres or more torque. Ride is better than leaf sprung. Gearing is generally higher than earlier models, easiest fix is lower t-case gearing.

Ask Terry or Howie from your club. From memory the paper road went through a fence line, across an undriveable bog (in the space of 100m) and then got really boring... I could be wrong, but it was done to prove a point rather than to save a really great track.

Wouldn't want to do a snatch recovery with that - not a lot of stretch in a winch rope, but as you say, if you just want a light tug and a rope that packs away small.

Re: Thoughts on Diff Lock ?
Lockrights are awesome cheap traction for Offroad work, but they can be 'interesting' when cornering on a hard surface. Especially bad in a light weight short wheelbase truck when powering thru a sharp corner. My old samurai would either step sideways or give a sharp cluk and jolt if you gassed it o...

8v or 16v g16a or 4age is about as much power as you would want In a 413 or Sammy without swapping diffs and axles. I put a 16v g16a in a Sammy and it went really well, but I did start breaking CV's & axles. I also had a coily Sammy with SR20DET E class, but it had Prado diffs and axles. Sweet t...
