Re: "Lando" - C79's V8 Disco Build Thread
Hasn't Muddyplumber's 3 door disco got the yellow Camel trophy paint underneath the green? Yep, that's right. Engine bay and any hard to reach places are still Sandglow paint... was obviously a very nice truck once upon a time. A shame to see how rough it's become and underneath the yellow it was o...

Re: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Brute Ute 3.6 2016
Seems a reasonably comprehensive kit and shouldn't have a problem getting certified. Only issue I would have (not sure how a certifier would view it) is the bending of the brake lines to give extra length. My preference would be to go for longer braided stainless steel hoses. Available ex USA or can...

What are you talking about Big? Aren't all snatch straps kinetuc energy straps? No, as not all snatch straps are made of nylon. Some like the Ridge Ryder products from Supercheap and also Mudstuck are actually made of polyester which doesn't stretch. I did article on the Supercheap ones two or 3 ye...

At the moment I have both Discovery (1997) and Jeep Cherokee (1995) here. Both modified for off road running and both 265x75x16 tyres. To get those tyres on the Jeep required a 4-inch lift kit and minimal guard/flare trimming. Previously ran Jeep with 50mm lift and 31x10.50x15's and worked very well...

There are a number of places that do suspension kits for the XJ.
Just not sure who specifically does Iron Rock Offroad stuff but worth asking the jeep specialists.
You could try Greg at Offroad Specialties in Whangarei or 4WD Accessories in Christchurch that also deals in Jeep stuff.

The larger hole ones allow for adjusting wheel bearing with wheel in place.
Hole is big enough for hub nut spanner to go through.
Also they allow fitment of plastic centre caps from RR or Discovery.

When fitting tubes make sure all the 'build' labels inside the tyre have been removed. Usually one or two in each tyre but sometimes even more. If not removed completely they will rub and eventually cause punctures in the tubes. If tyres have been previously fitted and used as tubeless often it is h...

Its cool but its not a Defender. Its a Land Rover One-Ten. Somebodys put new doors on it, probably because the frames on the old ones rusted out. Somebody should ask for a pic of the engine bay, my money is on a 2.5NA diesel, worlds apart from the TDI. Which means it wont have the R380 either. Also...

Was up there yesterday. Track up to Tairua River was fairly easy going. No winching or recovery required. Walked about 1.5kms or so of loop in anti clockwise. Some deep holes to get through so a good reliable winch a must. Plenty of gouges in the banks from panels and bar work and plenty of 'broken ...

It doesn't look like a tow ball being used but in fact a pintle hook. Either way it was ripped from the vehicle so wasn't secured that well. The snatch was hard but wouldn't have been as severe as it could have been if the towing vehicle was not reversing. You have to wonder what type of strap was b...

Not until this engine is toast then I think I would look into a S/C 4.6 with X-bolted bottom end. Probably move the front panel right out like a defender so I can put a massive radiator in there to keep it nice and cool For now I'm looking into a second stage of: Blue printing/reshaping intake &...
