Re: 80 Series Front Diff Question
Well Ive got it all out and totally stripped, well the diff housing is. Going to work out cost to have the diff rebuild and getting the housing knuckles repaired, as they are were worn. Looks like they are the cause or the start of the problems and if I dont fix them or get a second hand one. This w...

Re: 80 Series Front Diff Question
Thanks for the feedback. Been talking to Nathan from Kaiapoi Repowers, as he has an open diff head, which I might install while my one is off getting rebuild. As my truck is my daily driver and I'm using my recently deceased Dad's Terrano to get to work and its kinda not the most ideal situation. I'...

80 Series Front Diff Question
I was underneath greasing my drive shafts and noticed the front diff pinion seal leaking a weee bit. Jacked it up and removed the wheels. Gave the hubs a wee turn by hand and watched the drive shaft flange move about 5mm back and forth when turning the hubs forward just a tad, then backwards a tad. ...

Re: Hippy's 80
Dont worry Matty, When I get the second auto cooler fitted, I'll be moving the hose's, as Im not happy with where they put them. Todays effort isnt much. Got my plate(5mm) cut down, dug through my scrap bin of steel and found some solid bits of angle(6mm), which Ive used to support the plate. http:/...

Re: Hippy's 80
Ive done the cutting of the valance and giving it a weee clean up and spray it black, just to give it some protection from the weather etc. Cut it the same on both side, as I'll be fitting another auto cooler and that OCD strikes again. Put the winch on and had a look/measure up. http://i2.photobuck...

Re: Hippy's 80
Well its done, valance cut out. Ive cut it in a way so I can still have my plumbing sitting where I want it to and still have the winch as far back as it can be. Before cutting. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/B110/80%20Series/80serieswinchmounting9_zpsbcc84b43.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: Hippy's 80
Looks like that bullbar could easily be modified to fit a bit closer to the front? Would increase approach angle. Yes it can, but its only around 60mm I'd gain. Will the winch fit between the chassis rails? I know it will end up with the hawse off set slightly but it would be a small compromise to ...

Re: Hippy's 80
It did cross my mind to cut it. But as the plumbing for the headlight washers is behind it and my auto cooler is mounted close to it as well. I didnt really entertain the idea for to long. Skid do you have any pictures of your 80 with out the winch/bull bar?? If the weather plays nicely tomorrow, i'...

Re: Hippy's 80
My new winch turned up today(Big thanks to Tom for sorting me out). Now the fun times begin.......... As I wanted to get the winch as far back as I could, so I could get a better approach angle than what I have ATM. Ive just sat it on a bit of plate to see what and where it will sit best. http://i2....

Im not sure what they are off, Ive tried them on my 80 and they clear all the brakes and stuff, a mate has tried them on his late 90's Prado and they fit.

I was up there just after the big snow fall they had in late June. Crossing the river at the end of Lilybank Rd is pretty easy, but you'll still need a snorkel. I'll be building a new front bar for my 80 soon(Once Ive bought a winch off Tom). It wont take much more for me to build two at once..... But my 80 has a 50mm body lift and the factory front bumper is long gone.
