Re: Whirring fan noise from engine bay.
Right O. Update time. Found the slow leak. Lifted the hood whilst engine bay was hot. And small steam leak at top of radiator by the top hose. So I am going with a triple tube re-core. Superior cooling properties according to the radiator tech. Costs a little more than a LR OEM radiator but the lR D...

Re: Whirring fan noise from engine bay.
I saw a couple of YT clips on the clutch fan viscous refill option. Though further research indicated that getting a tight seal can be problematic. Anyone tried a daviescraig electric water pump and electric fan conversion on a D1? Flexi-lite make great looking fans too,and USA manufactured a bonus ...

Re: Whirring fan noise from engine bay.
Hi ya smurf. Always seems to smoked a bit when I floor it from stationary up to hiway speed. Cooling/rad fan very stiff to rotate by hand when engine is both warmed up or cold. Can`t see any leaks when system is pressurized. Think maybe viscous/fan clutch is shot. 1995 with 300k on the chassis and a...

Whirring fan noise from engine bay.
This condition started a couple of days ago. Normally hear this whir for a minute or two then it dies away from a cold start. But now is on all the time until I reach top gear around 80kms. Seems to be using a little bit more water too. No air con working/on. So is this perhaps a radiator cooling fa...

Rear rotor disks D1
Old disks too thin.
Anyways,I pulled both hub covers and shafts off to change over to new rotors.
Will this be an issue aligning shafts back into the diff?
Or should I have done 1 side at a time?
Too late now for me.
Replacing bearings and cups whilst all the fruit is out.

Charcoal canister on Jap import
I saw a guy on YT a Mrbeamerdave. Great vids about the D1 using a ECUmate scanner. I noticed in his D1 engine bay the charcoal canister had been removed. My truck has had the cats removed. Can I do the same with the charcoal canister? Does the ECU need to be reprogrammed to remove the CC? Jap D1s se...

Re: Fuel starve D1
Thanx for the tips TT. Ended up the fuel pump had gone south. Inspected the old pump. A OEM was going to cost like $850 + GST + freight + a 2 week delivery time from the UK.(yeah right moit) Went for a generic FP for around $340. Also had the ignition amp relocated to the area behind the L/front hea...

Disco cut out towing the boat. Plenty of spark looked for loose wires/connections etc. Is the fuel pump kaput? The ignition amplifier module plays up as per an earlier thread I placed here. Any possible connection to the fuel starve issue. Also just had a new exhaust put in. Thoughts/tips/ideas. Che...

Put 91 in truck by error.(96 is what it should have been)
Put a can of octane booster in.
When towing boat up hills noticed pinking under acceleration.
And gutless.
Have run tank down low.
Was going to try 98 Ultimate (BP).
Anyone see problems here for me?

You can grab the cargo barrier anytime DaveM.
It has 2 x small sections of mesh removed to accommodate fishing rods.
Structural integrity of the CB should be fine.

What stays or goes with the engine. Is the fuel pump sold separately for example. And is it better to leave the truck in running order so the buyer can hear/inspect/compression test the motor first? Suppose I will need some heavy duty pallets to place engine/gearbox on.
Have a rough idea of pricing from TM.
