Re: 18th/19th

Just got over the flu and found the Hilux had a bit of that diesel bug.. ironic Ripped out fuel tank, washed n dried, flushed out lines and fitted a new filter.. Can anyone recommend a good diesel additive to kill off any leftover traces of it? Plan on fitting a clear filter before the main filter n...

Re: Speedo Re-calibration??

don;t worry about it. From memory you are allowed 5 percent difference. I would.. or at least allow for it.. I was down the Old West Coast Road today and got a ticket for doing 109.. the speedo was reading 100 he issued the ticket.. only 30 bucks.. cheap way to find out the speedo reading :) First ...

Re: Knocking noise on startup

..my knocking noise turned out to be a stuffed key on the lower drive pulley.. every revolution it would knock.. to an untrained ear it sounded worse than it was.. (thank fcuk) .. it had slogged out the pulley but not the crank key-way.. not a common one apparently, but there ya have it.. phew :)

Re: 2.8 turbo rebuild.. how long should it last

Ended up dropping it back to the mechanic I purchased it off..
Confirmed..motor was rebuilt about 30,000 kms ago.. so its a bit of a surprise.
Fingers crossed its not a major.. and I'll have it back in a few days.
Otherwise it could cost a bit.. bit pissed off to say the least.

(its a 2.6 petrol)..just dropped back to 3 cylinders on the way from the coast.. small rattle up top.. thought (with luck) it might have been a valve spring or the like....(mechanic said low compression) its parked in the garage at the moment.. might have t...

2.8 turbo rebuild.. how long should it last

Ok.. short story first.. Had an Izuusu.. took it to the local mechanic because it wasn't running too good.. he said its stuffed. I said fine and parked it up. He had a 95 Hilux double cab for sale.. I bought it because he seamed like a straight up bloke. Now I'm wondering if I was right.. He had ful...

Re: Diff ratio cause problems?

I'm just wondering if it'll cause any issues with the vehicle operating in 4wd if the front and rear diff ratio are not matched? It might be more fun to put little tyres on the front and big ones on the back.... then chuck it in 4wd and see what happens... I'm no mechanic but would gather they need...

Thanks for the link, looks similar to what I am going to do. I see form your plan you were going to mount the winch on the front plate, any reason why you bolted it to the bottom plate? Hey marmel.. only reason was that I didn't have the tools to rotate the clutch lever end.. I've kept it mounted b...

WTD: LOKKA Isuzu 10 bolt - 17 spline

Hi all, I'm looking at installing a Lokka..

I've already found a supplier but thought I'd post here to see if I've missed a better deal..

Who's the best to deal with? feedback or offers...

Prefer new but secondhand considered..

cheers
