A Series One Landy in pride of place...

Here's an image that was a Postcard back in the 1960s. This is Ferry Landing, Whitianga on the Coromandel and parked in centre shot where the owner always left it is his Series One. I was a kid then, all of 6 yrs old probably and the reason this image is so familiar to me it's that's my 2 brothers a...

Help: Rangie Classic front axle CV spacer & bush.

Just going through my machine's front swivels (see my other post here) and i've noticed how knackered the bronze bushes and CV spacers are. The spacer was really chewed up on one side and one bush has been well beaten up probably from a detonating CV.... http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww106/pete...

Re: Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

So i went a bit far and splashed some paint on the Swivel Pin Housings after a good degrease: http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww106/petematev8/Offroader%20RR%20Classic%20Axle/1-IMG_1700x_zps099fbcd8.jpg Had a chance late Sunday arvo (today) to do a bit more. The weather was all over the place and...

Re: Rangie witha 350 Olds V8 Diesel

You may find interest from a Ratrodder who of course won't want to pay much if anything for what makes for an unusual choice of powerplant (the USA ratrods using diesels are recently a whole new 'thang' in the constant search for something different and original. Just do a You Tube search... Remembe...

Re: Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

Just ordered up hub and swivel rebuild kits that contain mostly the consumables like seals bearings etc... Spent ages getting a run-round on the phone getting retail prices for genuine but individual items and poor availability so made the decision and bought kits online.

Re: Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

Just a few pics... A cleaned up (it was a shocker) swivel. Check out the obvious extra holes to accommodate the flipped axle.... The advice here is the swivel looks pretty good and just needs a couple of nicks polished off with fine paper... http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww106/petematev8/WILLYS...

Re: 1997 Disco won't run

...as others have already said and my 10cents.... Pull the plugs and check for a fouled one which should reveal the cylinder not burning right. Take off the rocker cover (it's not a biggie... might end up having to use a new gasket or some undo-able sealer to stop the oil leaks later ) on the side a...

Re: Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

Well all cleaned up and a careful check done. The lower bearing surface contact in the swivel housing has been chewing away more than i would consider being able to reference off a new bearing. Two lower M10 holes for the stub axle to bolt into swivel housing have smashed threads and i can see someo...

Re: Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

Hi, Are you going to use grease again or go back to oil? My advice is to stick to the grease. Heaps better. The seals themselves are quite vunerable to dirt and crap damage. Probably why on S2 discos onwards they changed completely and went with an exposed UJ. I have seen the gaiters used but not r...

Swivel rebuild on a Classic Rangie front axle

I've been seeing increasing amounts of oil appearing on the brake rotors vent openings, some slinging on the rims and the "you do something soon" drip patches on the ground directly below the drag-link ball joint when parked for a while... So last night i tore down the LH unit. The biggest...

This is the openSource computer interface software that allows you to ''interrogate'' your injected V8s 'going-ons' care of what the 14CUX ECU is doing. I had an in-depth play last summer on my project hacked up Rangie and made an important realization that the poor ECU was not receiving any speedo ...

Re: show us ya landy

More pics/info please! Looks like a unique machine. Here you go.... I was running it up to burp out the airlocks after a new water pump was chucked on... That cooling system is a right hard pain in the arse i must admit. Gotta be on to it to fill it correctly... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-LrJ...

How's about this for something different? Ex Classic Rangie late 1980s running gear with a 3.9V8 that lives in the rear . http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww106/petematev8/WILLYS%20OFFROADER/IMG_1773.jpg I've done a few things like sort out fluid leaks, a new radiator with Davies Craig electric pu...

(My custom Jeep has a mix Willys/Mahindra body) the same kind are doors are on it. http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/Photos/Mahindra/MahindraOwners/Carroll/CarrollCJ340Rear.jpg Mine are shot to bits, busted frames and torn. My 1st post here.... (old Jeep, new owner)

Hello, just saying hi to everyone as a total Newbie. My avatar shows the machine i recently bought and i hope once i've sorted the radiator on it to use it mainly to access Muriwai for surf-casting. It should be a fun toy for summer too. The machine is basically a chopped down Rangie with a mix Mahi...
