New addition to the family unfortunalty means the Samurai is now to small. Keen to swap for an early 90's Hilux.
Let me know if your interested.
We are in Whangarei, but frequently travel to Auckland and further afield wouldn't be a problem.
Cheers,
Travis

Re: Ruakaka Beach
I have crossed the Ruakaka river mouth on foot a few times at low tide, depth was about knee height at deepest and fairly hard sand, however I dont think I would take a vehicle accross there because of the people who hide up in the sand dunes taking photos, looking for proof the beach needs to be sh...

Re: check out my new Samurai Project
Thought I would post a couple of photos of a recent trip to a friends 'holiday home' out towards Whananaki, was only supposed to be a quick trip to drop the couch off and back home in time for a bbq after the wives had finished with their baby shower...his 'driveway' was slightly muddier than expect...

Re: Wanting to buy new Snorkel kit for Suzuki SJ413
Have a look at auction #687559251 on trademe. I fitted one to the Samurai a while back, probably not the best looking, and would look even worse without the flares - but the price is ok. Just dont trust the hole template!!! I was lucky enough to mate everything up before cutting holes and glad I did...

Re: G16B needing more power/torque Superchargers ??
Different engine, but similar experience to meatc - I once supercharged an old 2.0lt 79 Mazda 626 with a sc12. Used a suck though carb setup, but just couldn't get rid of the detonation. It would be sweet until the engine warmed up. Amazingly it put up with multiple thrashings from stone cold and se...

Re: sj413 running realy bad
I was having similar problems with mine dying at the most inappropriate times - people give you funny looks when you rev the sh*t out of it just to get through an intersection in a timely manner. Check the vacuum advance on the distributor - pull the hose of the carby and suck on it, if it's leaking...

If you ever want to find out just how stuffed your shocks are - throw a canadian canoe on the roof! The death wobble at 90kph was pretty scary..But with some new back shocks we should be sorted for some awesome trips over summer! Cant wait.

Re: Oil…oil…everywhere - Story of a Bleeding Samurai
Good arguments from both sides..thanks for the info guys. I tied a rag around it to keep oil from going everywhere. Problem not quite solved - but at least the driveway stays clean. I kind of like the idea of rebuilding the pump thats on it, im guessing a suzuki dealer should be able to point me in ...

What a good idea!! Sweet thanks for that. Do you need to run a return line with a restriction so the thing keeps pumping or do they just supply what is required and slow down/stall?

Re: Oil…oil…everywhere - Story of a Bleeding Samurai
Thanks for the suggestions guys. The Braso thing sounds interesting...I imagine it would work to an extent, but my engine would have to be blowing clouds of smoke so thick you can’t see behind you, and then I might have a go. I’m pretty sure I found the root of my problems (other than a tired old mo...

Oil…oil…everywhere - Story of a Bleeding Samurai
So last month my lil zook started to drip oil on the nice new driveway - this steadily grew to the point where I started parking on the lawn and killed a huge patch of grass. Without looking too hard I told the wife it was probably the rear crank seal and ‘wellll..while it’s out I might as well do t...

Hi Brad, Welcome to ORE!! :D I owned a 3.5lt manual pajero for a while and it was great fun! pretty reliable too. I was using it to get to work and back and the odd trip over over the gumfields or out to Pouto and south head. put some 33's on it with out any problems and it would go most of the plac...

The legal system in NZ sucks - sometimes it feels like criminals are protected and the cops force nomal law abiding citizans into taking things into their own hands, at which point they too become criminals.. I can almost see how this is going to end...That dork will get off scott free - minu...

Here's a few pic's, looks like it's been sitting around for a while... It looks very similar to the one on my 1.3, I was thinking if it fits I could throw it on and see if it does what it's supposed to, I'm guessing if it needs a rebuild would probably be easier for you to source one locally off a w...

As far as payment goes, if you have a spare suzi 8 valve 1.3 carby lying around we could do a swap?

Yeah I agree with Nizzanman - Give Tom a call at Autoclutch (09 849 3737) He has rebuilt a few clutches for me to better spec than a heavy duty one for less $$ than I could get a standard clutch. He usually wants your old setup including flywheel so they can stone grind it and then set it all up and...

Interesting..so technically I could drive my car down the paper road with the dog inside, probably do more damage to the wild life, but it's the principal right! For future referance:
BS035 - Smaller O-ring on vertical shaft of distributor.
BS118 - Larger O-ring on distributor housing into cylinder head.
Saves buying them through the Suzi dealer at 10x's the price.

DOC, Unformed road & dogs
Hi Guys, hoping someone can shed a bit of light of how much 'power' DOC has over paper roads. I was reading though the local paper yesterday and hidden away in the middle was an article saying DOC had banned dogs completely from certain areas in Ruakaka. Some of these areas I can understand as they ...

1994 3.5lt SWB manual pajero with 33' muds = 14.09lt/100km best and 15.20lt/100km worst. 1991 1.3lt samurai was around 10lt/100km standard.
