Re: Wanted -- Garrett Turbo or Hitachi replacement
you can get the gt2052 with BB as apposed to journal, but it still isnt the right turbo for the R50 as the outlet from the compressor housing is wrong, the one you want is a T28 from a S14 or S15 silvia in saying that the T28 has been superseded by the T25R which has twin BB's as apposed to single B...

Re: Wanted -- Garrett Turbo or Hitachi replacement
Yes, Nissan used Hitachi or garrett, you will find the garrett more on the black top eti top mount intercooled mistral, my father in laws 98 r3m facelifted terrano with the qd32 eti also has a garrett as apposed to the Hitachi and goes like the clappers

Re: Wanted -- Garrett Turbo or Hitachi replacement
Mistral is a td27 only, the pre96 models run a Hitachi wet float bearing and are more prone to failure and don't like being pushed past 14psi as the exhaust wheel has a habit of snapping off. The turbo charger you want is from a qd32 Nissan terrano or black top eti mistral post 97 as these are a gar...

Re: Turbo replacement / upgrade on TD27T
The R50's are front mount inter cooled, the R20's compressor housing faces straight up as it goes directly into the top mounted intercooler under the bonnet via way of a 65mm diameter 50mm long rubber joiner then the same on the other side where it departs the intercooler down into the inlet manifol...

sounds like the controller is missing the trigger from the ON postiion as opposed to the start position on the key after glow at 5 volt is once the controller knows the engine is being cranked.

Without the supporting document and possibly even a manufacturer/engineers tag stating load rating then i'd say its a no no, It'd be considered a modification to the frame requiring cert anyway

Have you thought about going all out on a V8 diesel cruiser or would that be a bit too much for the wallet. Another thought a mate of mine has a 2010ish Triton with the 4m41 common rail that has had a stage three chip put in it and Dyno tuned, the thing is stumping up over 700NM mated to a 5speed au...

ecu is below the center console under the radio....... TCU is between the center air vent assembly in the dash and the firewall, shouldn't need to adjust the tps on the post 97 model( which is atop the accelerator pedal mount) as it also controls the fly by wire throttle control

Re: Low stall torque converters
the problem with auto's (and nissan's jatco transmissions are probably the worst for this) is they are designed to change gears smoothly, in order to do this they dump line pressure during the gear shift to give that silky smooth feel, the unfortunate side effect to this is more slippage of the clut...

If its altitude related then you need more air volume for the amount of fuel.

There is still something wrong you you have to go to that extent to keep it cool, mine was significantly modified on 28 psi and spent most of its time stuck in deep mud and I can count on one hand the amount of times it even got remotely hot. https://scontent.fakl5-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/11054854_...

buy 4 new ones, use em till the centers get down to 10mm, sell em, buy another set, that way you lose minimal value on the resale, you will usually sell a second hand set with about 10mm for a grand, and on special you can buy four for around 1400-1500 dollars, sell em about march april when things ...

Wing nut on the battery post for the winch solenoid cable feed would do the same job.
I had a winch solenoid do the same thing, when it was connected you could here a slight hum from the alternator.
