you need to be in park when changing gear in the transfer case. The transmission output shaft can turn when in neutral and cause a noise.

The temp guage has it's own sensor. The ecu runs off a different sensor. Sounds like you may need a new thermostat I haven't seen a sensor fail, maybe with the trans oil running in the radiator before was enough to heat the engine coolant just enough.

Lock up/overdrive runs off engine temp sensor. The trans temp sensor is just there for the trans over temp light.

My money is on the ecu, I have repaired them before and you think you have seen all the problems but miss things. I've had them a part three times before I have got them. Have a good look around the circult board around where you have replaced things.

Start with the basics and idle the engine in neutral and check the amount of ATF you have in circulation as the trouble sounds like low fluid to me, check the ground where you park and around the gearbox belly for oil leaks. Cover the basics first, hope this helps Im sure he has fixed it after 4yrs...

4L60 will have a kick-down cable and no pressure switch, 4L60e will not have a cable.

Why not get overhaul kit from atp (auto trans parts) shop in chch and Auckland. Cost me around $250 for a kit and all clutch plates for one I just did.

It will be fine, if anything it will be better like that because the new seal is running on a fresh surface (there would be a mark on the crank where the old seal was running).

If you are still having issues getting stuck in first you need to replace the rear speed sensor on the trans. It sits on top of the housing between the transfer case and trans you will need to drop the back of the trans to see it/remove it. Cut it out of the loom and solder another one in (get a 2nd...

The bigger the better you won't over cool one of them. We fit x-large coolers in them (trans shop) and sometimes they still get hot you need to run them with the radiator. Give ATP (auto trans parts) 3792064 chch they have a huge range of coolers.

No solenoids in there apart from lockup. Its going to have sticky valves/governor and only one reason for that something has or is fallen apart the trans shop have missed something or a s### job. The best you could try is swap the governor from your old trans and try it, the governor is on the left ...

T700 isn't electronic apart from the lock up solenoid so no fail safe mode.The 4l60e is the later and electronic trans. The only external thing that can cause it to be stuck in first is if the kickdown cable is set to tight. So just disconnect it all together and see if it changes for a test if it d...
