Re: U-bolt flip 70 series

When I used to make spring plates I showed them to Certifier and he gave me a Certificate and all ongoing plates had to be made exactly the same.

Re: U-bolt flip 70 series

Far back in time I used to make spring plates which looked like a top hat upside down, which had the U bolt nuts positioned at the side of the springs.
If any one wants a drawing of these just PM me.

Re: KZJ78 spindle bush query

First, Do you need to replace this bush, they would only ware out if there were no grease in the knuckles, Use an internal micrometre and the size should be 33.5mm ID, if you need to replace it I think the only difference is the electric hub type is shorter because of the seal width.

Re: KZJ78 spindle bush query

If you replace the seals, just make sure that the lip faces the correct way, Seal is used to stop water from entering the electric hubs.

Rear Upper Control Arms, 90# Prado

Need to replace either the bush's or the complete control arm assy on the rear of a 90# Prado. Very costly $$$ Are the bush's easy to push out and replace with a kit set of bush's ?. OR is there a place that sells arms at a good price ?.

Re: 1kz-te using water........

When they did a pressure test they blocked all water ports on the head , they ran hot water thru the head at 180deg until head was at normal running temp, Crack showed up in the inlet port as the head alloy got hot, Replaced with a Toyota head and have done 140,000Kms and still going great.

Re: 1kz-te using water........

My 2 cents worth, My 1kz head was hair line cracked in the inlet port, so only used water on each start up as the motor got hot, showed no signs of bubbles in the radiator or water in the oil. As long as the motor was hot it didn't use any water as there was no pressure in the radiator. The water mi...

Re: Soft Shocks

I did that to the standard coils before fitting HD Coils, but found that with 110Kg of loading on the towball and a 160KG power chair in the rear I needed so much pressure in the bags that one started to leak. I thought that fitting softer shocks it may stop that hardness when going over bolders etc.

Soft Shocks

What is the softest Brand of Rear Shocks for a KZJ-71 ?
I have fitted HD Chamberlin Rear Springs matched up with Munro shocks, caravan in tow and a power chair in the back, it's a very hard ride when not carrying any weight.
Is there a soft shock that I can fit with out going to costly adjustable's.

You will also need a good inward water pressure ( flow ), if not the water blaster will starve and start spluttering.

I think you need to be in low range for it to work. and if you have after market hubs fitted you need the Hub lock Switch in.

Re: U bolt flip

I used to make plates that were flat under the spring and the sides were pressed upwards approx. 20mm ,then outwards approx. 20mm, 4 gussets on each side, they needed to be pressed to make they legal. If I knew how to put up photos I could show you. If your interested MP me.
