Still looking. Turns out I was put crook about what they come off. Apparently I want the ones that come off a SW20 Gen3 turbo. Anyone know where I can get some from?

Re: MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
I have the LJ78 rear rotor & that is why I really would like to use the 22v caliper as they match the disc diameter better & I need the truck to stop on 35's for cert & have a half by decent hand brake. My preference would be to put a complete KZJ78 rear in the truck but unfortunately ca...

The turbo ones have a bigger piston area apparently & they fit the Prado ventilated disc. They are marked 22v

Re: ac as air compressor?
Use proper compressor oil rather than engine oil or CRC. Mixes better in air and will also lub your air tools better. Cheap as from Supercreep. I used a Hiace master cylinder as an oil resevoir & a 1mm oil line into the suc side of pump. Works sweet as. don't worry about collecting the oil again...

Re: Toyota surf 2lte to 1kzte conversion
Swaps easy. You just need a bellhousing, flywheel & clutch. Throw away the ECU & go manual pump, that way you can get rid of all that emmision control rubbish. Modify the engine mounts & cert

Re: LJ71 Ute Chop and Repower
Few weeks ago I replaced the LSPV with a Willwood brake proportioning valve, seems the truck passed wofs and cert(twice) with next to no rear brakes. All sorted now, a bit of a concoction of fittings but works.
Where did you get it & what was the part no.?

Re: Hilux Surf 1KZ-TE Engine Running Temp?
The genuine part number for the 76-90 degree thermostat is 90916-03119. I've fitted a few to vehicles that do a fair bit of towing. There are only the 2 options available here, the 76-90 degree and the 82-95 degree (the standard type). I bought a new 71- 90 from HB Toyota the other day. Now unfortu...

Re: Nissam Mystral TD27 hard to cold start in the mornings
Nissans are real bad for the glow timer not matching the light. Let it glow and wait for the click of the glow circuit turng off rather than the light and see how it starts. If it still starts bad check the glow plugs.

Why did you have to do a drive shaft loop? Your trucks not a scratch build. All you've done is a motor transplant. Your cert guy knows squat.

Re: Pto winch strength
Most of the time 10mm is ok. Only tends to break on those steep uphill deep mud climbs where you get pulled in to bank. Winch usually complains a bit before that happens. Then you stop and change to double purchase. If your on such a steep bank that your going to come plunging backwards if the rope ...

Re: Pto winch strength
Have put a 5mm high tensile cap screw in mine so it won't break there and then put a shear flange with a 8mm mild steel shear bolt in it further along the shaft so that you can get at it when your balls deep in do do. I break my 10mm plasma before the shear bolt. Plasma is easier to fix.

Why bother balancing them. The first time you go off road the balance will be screwed anyway. Just get a good steering damper & stronger arms.

The spots are 12V 50w halogens from house down lights mounted in a bit of PVC tube. $3.50 each from Mitre 10. I repowered with a 1kz with manual pump last year. 2LT motor really lacked a bit in power even with the boost wound up to 15psi and lots of extra fuel thrown at it. Also 2.5" exhaust wi...

I've had one for years. Had the old 2lt until last year. would power 33's just but tended to run out of horses when you really needed them. Repowered with 1kz. what a difference.

Totally agree. The A/Ts don't last very long & go out of round as well. We have them on our fleet vehicles. 25k & they are out of round. 30 k and they won't pass a warrant.
