Re: HJ45 flatdeck restoration
Really nice job on this truck 8) I've been looking around for this on the road but haven't seen it yet, I like how you resisted the urge to modify it to much ! I want to do a 45 like this when I get time, can't decide wether to do a pale green like this or a mustard yellow to go with my 40, got both...

Re: Chch cert guy
Would recommend Jon Palmer if he is travelling up to Chch, he worked with me on certifying my modified FJ40, he didn't mind a lot of questions from me and even came to check out what I was doing at my place one night. Good guy who seems genuinely interested in all sorts of vehicles, some of those ot...

Aisin hubs
Got some Aisin hubs on my FJ40.
Doing some work on my front hubs today and the big coil spring that pushes the gears in, broke near the middle
Anybody know where to get parts, new or used for these, besides going to a wreckers yard?

Is this all Labour have left to attack National on these days??
Not against the whole democracy return thing but not keen on the Labour Party involvement in this referendum.
That is all, not interested in getting into a political party debate.

Have you tried Seatbelt Sales in ChCh?
They had no trouble supplying all the hard wear and belts that I needed when I retro fitted retractable belts to my FJ40.

Hope all you Rover nuts managed to catch the TV3 show Saturday night called 'For the love of cars'.
I'm a Toyota fan but still really enjoyed this show, great to see an old girl being restored again, had some cool side stories about Landrovers around the world to.

This is awesome news ! Such a great race with all the different classes, you get some interesting machines at the start line. Went to it the 1st year they ran it, we rode our dirt bikes over a back trail from Arrowtown and tried to enter at the gate :D The organisers weren't keen on that so we leane...

I agree with above, from my experience any WOF guy will see it isn't factory mounting and it will be a fail until it has a cert. plate saying it's all good

Re: trailer???? bugger it ill go transporter
It's easy as to keep something on hold/exempted, you stick it on hold for anywhere between 3 months and a year and when your yearly reminder letter turns up, you jump onto LTSA website and can exempt/hold it for another year in round 1 minute. I've had a ke30 Corolla on hold for 10 years this way. I...

Hmmm... a lot of good information in that answer thanks. It is the rusty Maruti version yes :) It is the wide diff version i guess because it has the metal flares over front wheels. Ill go try repco or bnt and see how helpful they are, sometimes they dont want to know about these kind of vehicles :?...

Just got one of these cheap as a farm runabout but need a few bits (rear axle seal, rear wheel brake cylinders and some u-bolts.
Where is the best place to get hold of these parts and other stuff i might need, in the south island?

Have to say when i first looked at the video and then looked at the comments flaming the guy, i thought exactly what Fakey wrote above, easy to criticise when it aint your truck stuck there, yeah the truck that was stuck in the first place shouldnt have been there maybe in those conditions. At the s...

Yeah im always a bit worried when i stomp hard on the picks at speed... :) The front/rear bias valve gives some piece of mind and to be honest it wouldnt have passed the cert without it, i had some sideways moments on the tarseal during testing before i decided it needed a valve  I was always ...

Yeah your truck had a big exo and was generally more of a tough truck than mine is if i remember right Fakey? I also got si...

Re: FJ40 gets a paint job
Hey Fakey, im sure there is the usual small differences in interpretation between certifiers on this, but it is meant to be - 5 stops, each from 100kmh to 0kmh (coming to a complete stop each time in 4 seconds) continuously and all this has to happen within 2 minutes total time. Pretty sure that i r...
