bit of a dredge but my pumps also leaking from the speed sensor, (hopefully the only place)
Do you undo the 4 allen key bolts then the speed sensor or undo the sensor first ?

being careful as i know how expensive it is to fix and once its stopped leaking its up for sale !

Hilux surf/hiace diff

I'm ideally after a 4wd hiace but have found a nice 2wd on and thinking about putting an lsd in it.
I have a 1996 surf with an lsd what are the chances of me switching it into the hiace ?

2.8 hiace pros and cons

Hey guys but left field but I'm looking at a 4wd hiace 2.8 diesel and wondering if anyone's had any experience with them . I'm in Chch and vans in Tauranga got a mate looking at it but obviously can't drive it my self

Any advice appreciated

Hey guys I'm looking at trading my 2002 sr5 hilux with 275km on the clock ,for a 1996 prado 1kz manual with 300 km on the clock and 8-10 k my way . I've had a prado before and loved it just wondering if there's much to look out for with these kinda kms on it?

Turns out the idler arm was flogged i never noticed it nor did beaurepaires or the the last place i got a warrant at ...

Quick update , release bearing was shagged surprised it was actually spinning still!

New clutch kit in now and its good as gold! :D

Had a look again this morning, belts aren't perfectly tight but don't seem to be the cause of the noise , definitely is coming from the gear box clutch area :cry:

squealing hilux 1kz

Hey guys gotta 02 1kz hilux thats seemed to develop a squealing noise in the last few weeks. Its not constant when driving ,but usually really bad on first start up when cold. The thing is it disappears as soon as i depress the clutch I've tightened all the belts recently , and a rough google search...

Hilux pulling to the left

Hey guys had my 2002 dc sr5 for a while now and thought id take it in for a wheel alignment. Has been pulling reasonably hard to the left -Took it in and they adjusted it,was reasonably out. They also rotated tires .Problem is it still seems to pull to the left ,a noticeable amount. Beaurepairs note...

Cheers Jerry , out of those two what would u lean towards , the bottom one appeals to me because i wouldnt have the cash to put a bar and tires on the other one ,but the lower kms could be a benefit in the long run?

Finally decided its time to get the ute i've always wanted and sell the prado (90 series diesel) I was just wondering if anyone has any pointers ,things to look out for? I Know the heads go on 1kz's ,but is there any on the spot kinda tests to tell without doing a compression test? Anything else maj...

Nothing flash but i went to one of those on the go places , purely because it was close to home ha, from memory it was under 200 bux to do a flush and fluid replace on my prado

Oh from memory think the crash had something to do with a dog in the truck :lol: , but yeah shes a wide road until you come across a logging truck lol

just one tow truck was the when i came across it they must of just dragged the ass end round ,then we had to dig the bank out below it as it was bottoming out, then they just reversed out .Would of been great to see how sketchy it was spinning it round like that

Yea it sounds like a bearing kind of noise, bit like a marble in a tin can but not overly loud , if this makes sense haha :lol:

1kzte problems

Hey guys my 90 series prado has seemed to of developed a weird 'metally" noise when running mainly just after start up, ive also noticed it seems to be chuggging a larger than normal amount of black smoke when i put my foot down

Any ideas?
Turbo maybe?

Well the other month my mechanic told me my trans fluid was quite dirty , at the time i couldn't afford the flush. Now that i have the coin i've been reading online about it and some people seem to think it can be a bad idea to flush it if its really dirty and can lead to the whole trans failing?. S...

Clunking while driving and turning, can feel one on the wheels slipping occasionally just seem to be making weird bad sounds from memory. Probably doesn't help much haha. Oh and couldn't engage into 4wd , well the light on the dash wouldn't go on, took ages for me to get it out of 4wd the last time ...
