Gidday Mate, As the previous guys have said, there are some good clubs in Canterbury and it's really the best way to learn about your vehicle and see some awesome country at the same time, not to mention getting out and about with like minded people. I'm with the Christchurch club and can send some ...

80 Series trans cooler
Hey Guys,
I'm having a few issues with the trans overheating on my VX, especially on long climbs.
Was thinking of putting in an after market cooler, any recommendations and best place to go in Chch.
Cheers

Foward facing for open road driving to force feed clean air. Side facing in dusty conditions or driving through scrub and trees to prevent dust and debris clogging up the air cleaner, whilst still getting some sort of forced air from the windscreen. Rear facing for really dusty conditons or heavily ...

Re: New Zealand Army Tac Plate????
Tac plates were actually used to identify Units when moving into assembly areas with multiple Units occupying it.
ie:
64: Armoured (QAMR)
41: Artillery
345: 10 Tpt coy
9: 1RNZIR
The Kiwi plate identifies the vehicle as being NZ Forces
etc...

Re: 80 series diff rebuild
Yeah mate, those are the same exploded views as the parts guys at Toyota sent me, but they don't show the guide, the closest part is the inner oil seal #43411D. So don't know where to go from there. According to the IH8MUD forum, you could run without them, but getting the axle located back into the...

Re: 80 series diff rebuild
Hey guys pulled the diff out, all good (buggered yes) but out, found the culprit for the damage. It appears to be the axle guide/ oil baffle that sits in behind the inner oil seal. Can't for the life of me find a part number and the guys at Toyota don't know what I'm talking about. I've read a threa...

Those Superior Engineering super flex arms?
Where did you get them and how much?
I too have castor plates but haven't fitted them because of the steering rod clearance issue.
Just trying to way up the options.

Oil leak, dripping on to the front diff.
It's not pouring out, but is certainly noticeable.
Thought it was the air locker line at first, but then looked up and there was a drip on the bottom of the turbo housing.

Turbo leaking, recon or new???
Hey guys,
Got a 1HDT with a leaking turbo, can't quite tell where it is coming from.
My question is to recondition or fork out for a new one?
Any recommendations for a place to go to in Chch.

Sliders welded or bolted to chassis rails???
Hey guys just wondering what the story is with welding sliders straight to the chassis rails. WOF man says no!!!!
I guess the other option is to make up some brackets and bolt, the issue is the brake lines etc... running down the inside of the rail.
Any advice is welcome.

The diff I got the plates off, had a bent tierod and the radius arms hadn't been altered, at the time just thought it had caught on something in the bush, but in hind sight everytime it flexed and turned hard lock, the tierod was forced up and along the arm. Hey Turoa, I'd also be keen to get some i...

Yeah I printed off some instructions from both superior engineering and Ironman to fit them, but I had a 3 meter piece of boiler pipe wedged under the diff and still couldn't lever it enough to line everything up. The instructions also say to grind a section of the radius arm to clear the tie rod? D...

This is a mean truck, you couldn't build one for the price.
So wish I had some cash, cause it would be mine.
Anyone looking at this, you wont be dissapointed, no expense spared on building this.
Good luck with the sale, Rob

I've got a set of 33s on my FJ40 and they are great on road, also good off road, but they aren't SIMEXs so if your going to get in the real boggy stuff, probably not that good. I do a lot of river trips and they are great especailly if you drop your pressures down to about 18-20 psi. Pretty good pri...

Re: HDJ81V VX Cruiser adjustable panhard rods
Cheers for the info. I got a fulla to check the truck out before I bought it, he told me that the front diff was sitting approx 10-15mm to the right (drivers side) off centre due to the panhard rod being to short, also the rear brake lines are tight and the sway bars are at their limit. Just to conf...
