Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
What's the latest....well got a WoF. Replaced any parts listed on the WoF sheet with new. Including a set of front shocks. Removed those electronic adjustable ones, for some decent ones. Still waiting for my clutch slave cylinder. Must ring them, but doesn't bother me. Since it's officially on the r...

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
So today was WoF day. As with these older offroad trucks, I wasn't expecting a flying pass...Close, but no cigar. Just some minor things that are related to age and some good old offroad action. Have ordered all the parts and will throw them in for the WoF man...including a new clutch slave cylinder...

Another job ticked off before I get a new WoF.
Front left wheel bearing a little bit of play. So a rebuild was in order anyway.

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
Right, so a couple of things ticked off today. The starter motor...bought a brand new one probably 9 months ago and so finally put it in. Originally you would have to hold the clutch in for the starter to properly engage the ring gear. But now it's immediate engagement, more power and even quieter. ...

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
So thought I would have a go at selling this 90"s classic truck. Wow! What an experience. There are some interesting people with interesting perspectives. Some people thought they would be using it as their daily mall crawler. Yes you can, but don't expect it to drive like a race car or handle ...

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
OK, here it is...... Cut out any rust and welded new plate in. Went with 2K white on the inside doors, boot, bonnet, etc with a matching and much cleaner Raptor coating to replace the green. All trim/rubbers and interior removed to ensure complete coverage. Comes up very nice each time when you use...

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
Well I tuned up the motor a while back and it's been on a few missions. The guide here: https://delicaforum.com/index.php?threa ... power.707/ was spot on. I added EGT and Boost gauges, oh and what the heck a much more accurate VDO temp gauge and new sender. Also put an in cab BOOST controller which...

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)
Ideas, ideas.... **FRP** I'm exploring the feasibility of some design ideas for the 70 and wondered if anyone knew how integral the FRP top is to the structure of the vehicle. I'm assuming because it's removable, you can actual drive around with no FRP top here in NZ....legally? If so, my next stage...

So the body restoration begins, here is the bones and the bad bits. Only rust I've found is one spot in the boot and passenger door window frame.
Stripped it all back and gave the entire thing a good scrub.

B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)
Yes indeedy-do. Picked up a new project today. Doesn't need much doing to it, just a tidy up. The previous owner is kindly providing all interior parts so I can restore it to it's former glory. Question is, restore, resto-mod, modify??? Will mull that over whilst I have a good play with it for a bit...

Well the weather is shit, but that's great....more time in the garage...Yeehaa!! For this weekends adventure, I thought I would put some nice new carpet in. The noisey sealed floorpan was getting to me and I like to roll in a bit of style and comfort. SO, I had some nice leftover carpet. At $500/lm ...

F'ing winch. Couldn't get it sorted and started playing up again. A mate was going to attempt a resolder, but what else will go wrong. Wasn't overly happy with the gearbox either. OCD mode Obviously another used and abused item. Sooooo, happy birthday / Merry Christmas, Ash at AFN 4x4 sorted me out....

Cheers, yeah that's what I did in the end. Can never guarantee the condition of second hand parts that wear.
Purchased from http://www.allfourx4.com.au/ which seemed to have the best pricing and good support to find the right match. There are a couple of different variants out there.

Well finally finished the front and rear barwork.
Whilst at it, I cleaned up the chassis area, red oxide primed and a fresh coat of black.
Will work on the sill protection a bit later.

Re: Project PAJ (Kermit)
Last couple of days have been designing and building the rear barwork. Added a dedicated hitch receiver (seperate to the barwork) and got the bones of the work done.
Just need to make up the sides and weld it all up.

Well, my brand new dyneema arrived and thought I would wind it on, only to find the winch didn't work. It bench tested fine after the rebuild, but no power. Jumped the winch to test the motor itself and confirmed it was a no go. 20230105_082937.jpg Pulled it out and stripped down the motor to find t...
