Re: KIWI 4x4 Teams Challenge

Hi, have emailed kiwi4x4nz to see if there are still places and to see what the vehicle rules are and the event requirements / format are but haven't had a reply. Is it correct that each team is meant to provide a marshall. will they be stuck in one place or get to move around a bit. Thank you Cheer...

clubman A is 33 and clubman B is 35

Is that measured size or sidewall size or manufacturers stated size ?? as all 3 will generally be different.

Re: Best place to buy synthetic winch rope?

I know nylon rope works well in tow/snatching applications, but might bind up on a winch drum under load? This is not why you would not use nylon rope for a winch rope. Winch rope needs to have minimal stretch before it breaks, otherwise it can be very dangerous, which is one of the advantages of p...

Re: 80 Series Hi 4WD noise

Yes later model one came with roller bearing and earlier ones with brass bush. Don't know if the bearing change coincided with the slightly longer CV and thicker drive flange and change from 12 valve to 24 valve On road bearing is probably better particularly if you are still full time 4WD. Off road...

Re: pto hydro pump

Need to check what the max design pressure is for the pump, generally the pressure capability of a vane or gear pump does not change with rpm, just the flow. What pumps are you looking at.

What pressure will they do, as that is the other very important factor, often the higher the flow the lower the pressure.

Wtd to borrow Holden 5.0 EFI V8 Ign Module

Hi, Anyone in Hamilton got a Holden 5.0 EFI V8 Ign Module that I could borrow to see if mine is the problem. Looks like this http://www.sparkshop.co.nz/Catalogue/Product/Product/40-329 Or even further away if you can do without it for a few days, I would pay for post. Thank you Cheers Tim

Thank for the comments, I am using an LED probe, with the ign on both sides of the coil are +ve, read on the net that with test light accross the the coil it should flash when cranking, it did flash one time when I was testing but now nothing. Re: pto hydro pump

Don't think line size has a major effect on cooling requirement, unless silly small causing alot of pressure drop, more about reservoir size (amount of oil to heat up) , how hard winch is working and amount of time spent winching versus cooling off time.

Re: pto hydro pump

Couple of additional comments. For my cooler I just used an intercooler on the return line which has a large flow area and is robust and cheap. For the control I am just using a log splitter valve which has the relief built in, much cheaper. For hoses, no need to spend that much if you are using JIC...

Re: rubber bushes replacement

Don't think they will work if it is still the standard 4 link with panhard, it relies on the flexibility of the rubber to allow it to flex. Whereas 3 link with panhard would be fine with sphericals.

Re: Suspension links

Bad news is you are going to have to put another normal arm back on the left side Or as you started off, go to some form of link arrangement. You say that it is difficult to fit a 4 link in , presume this is due to it being difficult to get enough angle between the top links for sideways restraint,...

Just got a price from BNT, $102 incl GST, just a bare unit.
Might get a few of the LowRange ones in my shipment, including the fitting adapters, getting some manual ones as well so don't require power to keep them on.

Hydraulic puller, some quick heat and a hammer to shock it.

If not going to hydro steer, possibly fit hydro assist, how much travel does your tie rod and drag link have.
