Car vs Wild

Hey...I'm a landy man myself...but just channel surfing and on Discovery is Car vs Wild. Basically a Bear Grylls type guy, and an ex-Rally driver? Taking some kind of Jeep up a river in Mexico. Some cool action so far, and some questionable stuff (took the back wheels off, and slid the Jeep down a s...

WTD: Series One 107 Rear Tub

Got myself a little project I'm keen to find a rear tub to fit...get rid of that flatdeck. Series One 107 tub is the ticket, but apparently the 109 tubs are virtually identical. Anyone in the hawkes bay, wairarapa, wellington area got one/know of one??? http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj490/gare...

Gearbox Oil

Got a '96 Defender with the R380 gearbox...just wondering what oil people have tried in it. MTF94 is what is recommended, but buggered if I can find that. On the aussie forums they recommend castrol syntrans, which costs a hell of a lot.

So...anyone got any suggestions?

Re: 13-14 October 2012

Unless you so for the revised kit the cambelt will wander and wear on the sides meaning you will either suffer failure or be replacing it again sooner than you think. The belt has been known to wear through the front cover and thats expensive to replace. Complete combelt kits with new pulley and te...

Re: 13-14 October 2012

nstacey - nice work, tidy looking disco (and another in the background...). Does your 300tdi have the changed idler/tensioner/crank pulley? Apparently heaps of problems with them in the late 90's...Rover put out some new parts, and the tensioner changed to one without a lip...and the crank pulley go...

Maintenance Mission

Been on the go for the last couple of days doing some work to the 110. Had a few perished hoses that needed replacing, A Frame ball-joint was knackered, thermostat was shot (always open), and did the cam belt. Turned into a bit of a mission doing the cam belt...turns out my 300tdi hasn't has the cra...

fitted a snorkel to the landy...turned into a bugger of a job, template was slightly out, not a lot of room inside to get to bolts etc...but nothing a bit of work, and a heap of silicone couldn't sort out http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj490/garethsinton/6524fe86.jpg http://i1264.photobucket.co...

Brilliant...what vehicle have you got? And, are there DVD's of the '84, '85, or '86 events? I'd be keen to get ahold of them somehow

Re: Camel Trophy History

I've got a DVD of the 1987-89 events...awesome stuff.
87 is Rangie classics, but the 88/89 events with the 110 Defenders make for good viewing
