Re: Zuk on 38's

Finished up the belt tensioner and bracket and installed a 4 ribbed belt. http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j445/TanZuk/PS%20pump%20and%20AC%20compressor%20Bracket/Tensioner.jpg Needed to make a custom return line elbow for the pump because the pump is located between the frame and motor. http://i...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Here is the finished PS/AC bracket. Still have to make some type of belt tensioner. Got to say this one really had me scratching my head a few times. Just because you made the bracket doesn’t mean you are going to be able to use the bracket. There were a lot of obstacles to overcome while making thi...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Got the AC compressor in on Friday, will be finishing the PS and AC bracket after the modified trans mount is completed. Here is the modified Rock 4x mount installed. Liked the design of Scotts mount and let him know that I was going to make a weld in plate and do away with the pinch clamps. Scott h...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Wasn’t happy with the way the bottom bracket mounting bolt was going to have to be installed and removal. Ended up reworking the brackets plates to make it more user friendly. Bracket making is tedious work. The most important thing is to be sure that you can remove all the hardware without things g...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Update The Rock 4x mount was purchased so I didn’t have to make all the parts from scratch. Wanted to say there was nothing wrong with what they offer just had something else in mind. With the mods made it is much stronger and has an angle mount that is welded to the inside of the frame rail after f...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Finally decided on the next plan of attack. Well, decided to try and put an empty block in for a trail install run. This was also done to mock up some brackets for AC and TG Toy power steering pump. The FJ80 box is close to where these components are going to live and wanted to make sure I had a rea...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Just wanted to give an update sorry no pics this time. Decided that the motor and trans really needed to be in before the final front steering components were burned in. This will add the appropriate weight on the Rig to get a proper steering and Panhard Bar rod dimension. Had one more obstacle to g...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Here are some much needed updates with pics Changed direction on the DS Radiator support bracket. The size of the bracket was bugging me. This led me to a redesign of the bracket. Decided to cut an 1” off the length to make it resemble the stock bracket. There needed to be 2 relief holes cut in for ...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Feels good to finally get that very complicated DS done. Don’t believe that Panhard Mount will ever move with that much bracing. Here is the completed DS components: 1” Dropped FJ80 Box, Panhard Mount with Support Brackets and Modified Ford Shock Tower. http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j445/TanZu...

Re: Zuk on 38's

My Radius Tube is finally here!!!!! After spending 3 weeks wasted on 2 shops that never bent the tube. I remembered book marking a frame shop when working on the Willys that bends custom frame rails. Gave them a call on Thursday and was at my door Tuesday. Decided to drop everything and get to work ...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Weather is finally getting better to get some work done. I have to work with the door up and the wind and rain was too strong to get much done. Re: Zuk on 38's

We are now on real time for the build so updates will be a bit slower now. While working on boxing in the PS frame rail the rad support bracket was going to have to be removed. The DS bracket was also removed during the same process earlier. Before the removal of PS bracket the DS bracket needed to ...

With all the mods made the steering is now close to stock geometry. http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j445/TanZuk/Outside/Front.jpg Waiting on the DS 1.25 DOM tube to be bent and that will finish this side up. http://i1086.photobucket....

Re: Zuk on 38's

Front Side 2nd Bracket is made and welded in place. You can now see the extensive amount of surface area the brackets use for strengthening the Panhard Mount. There will still be the additional 3rd round bar bracket. With all three brackets in these positions will equally distribute the load on the ...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Bottom support bracket 3/8 Top support brackets ¼ (2) There will still be a front bracket added. Working on the pieces now. http://i1086.photo...

Re: Zuk on 38's

Here is a look at the large Panhard bracket which is a perfect example of a 3D trapezoid. It took a little longer to complete after collaborating with Jethrobodean on the best structural strength of the bracket location. He had pointed out with the bracket blending in at the end of the fishplate. Th...

Re: Zuk on 38's

This has been an interesting bracket to make. There were no parallel surfaces on any of the pieces and there were a few compound angles. The shapes looked more like a kite then a bracket. The first 2 steps are done. Steps: Starting pieces needed to be tacked in place because of their irregular shape...
