Re: axle swaps
If I were in your position I would stick with the stock rover running gear vs changing over to Nissan. Only for the fact that you can upgrade the Rover gear a piece at a time or as it breaks vs a big outlay to switch to Nissan gear. From memory I don't think the 24 spline axles are all that much str...

Re: D1 V8 Auto with 35"?
What sort of money is a 24 spline diff and axles likely to go for these days? Ive already broken a trans (on the road) so the 10 spline bits might not last long Depends if you're just changing over to standard rover gear or looking at upgrading to lockers and chromoly axles. Also if it's front or r...

Re: D1 V8 Auto with 35"?
They also made a Salisbury for the front of Land Rovers, though these weren't that common. I know of a few people that have used a grinder to cut/grind off about 25mm from the bottom of the Salisbury housing. You have to use an aftermarket diff cover, but these are quite cheap. Keith Kreutzer from R...

Re: Australia. Sure, why not????
Looks like an epic trip! It's amazing the distances, wide open spaces and isolation in Australia. There are not many places like that in the world. I think that the 30k this trip cost is well worth the money spent. I've done a few smaller trips in Aus so can't wait to see your photos.

EGT Gauge Not Working
Just brought a Discovery with a 200tdi. The previous owner had installed a Boost gauge and EGT gauge. The boost gauge works fine, but the EGT gauge is not and apparently it has never worked. On start up it rotates 270 degrees on the dial which is apparently to calibrate, and then sits back down on 2...

Re: Discovery on TM
Looks to be be well looked after and with a complete service history it seems like it is fairly priced (though I'd still try and knock them down a bit). IMO though, I wouldn't be looking at an auto or at least take it for a drive and see how it goes/you feel about it before you buy. Friends of mine ...

Re: 4wd tracks around christchurch
Anybody here been up Worsleys Rd recently? Just wondering what condition the track is in? Thinking bout heading up there this afternoon to give my new ride a bit of a work out. If I go will be by myself, what are the chances of other vehicles being up there if I were to get into any strife?

Warn Highmount/8274 Winch For Sale
Good Condition Warn Highmount Winch, I brought it second hand in Australia, and never used it. I've had it connected up to a battery when I was fitting/fabbing it up to fit a truck I had in Aussie and it worked fine. It has no cable on it as I had it removed for shipping to try make it a bit lighter...

Part Suppliers ChCh
I have recently moved to Canterbury from Australia. In Aus I had a couple of Disco's and a 91 200 Tdi Defender Tray back. I'm driving a company supplied 2003 110 Defender with a 300 Tdi powering it. It's just clicked over 220k and the boss, who has owned since about 90k, can't remember the last time...
