rebuilding the raisin

i built this truck a few years ago to bush crash without holding back, front exo, rear radiator and 3s on gas, its been a solid performer with amazing reliability but latley its been looking more than a little second hand. http://www.googleonlinestorage.com/pictures/11be92d5075971e89a7662b4f6f111d4....

700 for a full rebuild of a GP pump? including a new main shaft?
wow, back in 06 when i did my seals they wanted 2k + any parts that needed replacing.
needless to say i voted with my feet, last i heard truck is still running fine on that pump 100k later.

bummer they only get the 1kd motor, a hilux can take them on the hills, but they do look tough.
we have quite a few of the v8 diesel cruisers at work. they do go ok but also have problems.

steel is best , big is good. alli will crack and shear real easily , exhaust tubing or galv pipe 1-1/4" minimum, remember your system can see 14psi . mostly you wont see good water flow till above idle so i try not to leave mine sitting around idling. i have used exhaust tubing with no anti fre...

one of the guys in our club ran his chinese 12v winch on 24v, it was scary fast and sounded like it would explode from over reving but hung togeather for 3 winch chalenges, first thing to go was one of the solenoids to earth, we put the whole solenoid pack in a plastic bag to stop from earthing and ...

i did the 3s swap to a w box, 2c diesel RWD van bellhousing starter back plate and clutch plate, got the 2c ring gear mounted to the 3s flywheel, used 20v blacktop headers. it works well, apart from the engine being at least 6 inched through the firewall. the carby sits right up against the clutch m...

Re: Believe it or Not! Slow Mount goes fast !!!!

one of the guys down here ran a cheap chinese 12v winch in his safari on 24v, a solenoid earth gave out (we had to lift and isolate the solenoid pack for the rest of the rally) i think it lasted 3 winch challenges before grenading (thats 3 days of at least 30 pulls a day), and it ran faster than i h...

Re: claimed tyre size Vs actual tyre size...

good call. bringing in the commerce commission will make the tire companies sit up and take notice
when a stated tire size ends up being smaller (or bigger) than another common or made size something is a miss
eg. if it measures up at 32" why call it a 33"

get a big stick and bash the starter motor.
this is not a joke
and its better if you use something metal rather than a stick
