Re: Rubicon vs Sport vs Overland

I went through the same thought process before upgrading from my TJ (had kids = need more doors) - I knew I couldnt afford to get into a 3.6 so was looking at the versions in the 3.8 I could afford. I guess the pro's and cons list looks similar. I ended up holding out for a Rubicon as I always had c...

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan

Yeah im in an older 3.8 Rubicon 4 door running 4.10's and 285/70/17's - Im definately going up to either 4.88'S OR 5.13's so Id be looking to get the highest ratio you can from factory. Even newer stock JKUR's are not geared correctly IMO.

Re: JK Rubicon journey

Hiya Looks like Im a few steps behind but basically the same path! Just moved on from much loved TJ into a JK Rubicon. Got the same pillar lights arrived via Fedex today and have K&N, Snorkel and ARB's to source now. Looking at the ARB Stubby winch bar up front but have to wait 6 weeks for deliv...

Re: Steering box upgrade

OK - So - Cheers for all the input haha - Ended up getting PG Hydro to rebuild the std box and got the blackjack guard and Boostwerks pillow bearing. New box is in with guard and the plate for the pillow bearing will have welded in place once complete. Topped it all off with a new Skyjacker dampner....

Steering box upgrade

Who's done what and what worked. I've ordered a pillow bearing from boostwerksengineering.com and I've got a box guard from blackjack welding in west Aus on the way which I'll marry up eliminate sector shaft play. So, now do I go std box or psc or psc with hydro.... Just want bullet proof steering ....

Re: Modified JK sector shaft brace

Yeah they all brace the box tho which is only a prob if your really doing hard core crawling. I do concur tho that the box needs some further structural assistance as according to a guy who reco's them in AK here frequently the bracing does help reduce the instance of frame cracking which he sais he...

Re: Modified JK sector shaft brace

Yeah the box in there at the mo is from an XJ - Leaks like a sieve. How much of a PITA was the seal kit caus I hear they're not worth the effort... a notable comment from Gerry over at Wranglerforum who seems to be the TJ Yoda.

Re: Modified JK sector shaft brace

Haha. Yeah OK - I keep leaving a puddle of steering fluid everywhere I go and its always leaking from the where the sector shaft exits the steering box. So. I was hoping to adapt the JK sector shaft brace to fit my TJ but this will only cross over if the thread and pitch on the JK nut is the same as...

Modified JK sector shaft brace

Hiya

Im looking to modify the plethora of sector shaft braces out there for the JK market to my TJ. Can anyone tell me if the steering box nut on TJ/XJ would be the same as on the JK?

Cheers

Re: Breather relocation - Suggested Trans guys in AK?

Man I'd love to get into this myself but I live in an old bach with a 40 degree driveway leading up to a leaky garage designed to (at a pinch) house a Triumph Herald. Also I dont have any means to weld the old breather in the pump housing shut. I dream of the day I have a high stud double garage and...

Re: Project XJ Crawler

Chipin in. Im not sure 35's even require 4030 in the HPD30 considering we're only really running mud/clay/sand down here in NZ. Its a locked setup getting air and coming down hard onto rock that I would see causing breakages. I'm sussing clearance, then Ill do the ZJ upgrade and finally with 35's I ...

Adj control arms top and bottom?

I noticed my track bar rubbing and after further inspection saw the upper control arm bushes are poked and the whole front diff is leaning forward maybe 5 degrees. I've got all the parts ready to do the locked HPD30 swap and will replace the whole upper arms (http://www.ebay.com/itm/JEEP-WRANGLER-TJ...
