Re: PTO drum play

It is likely the bush in the mount at the free pool end is worn. It is a case of how much movement if it only 0.5mm should be OK. Grease it every trip you use the winch and should be ok

Re: napoleons hill access

Good tracks for a standard truck. If it's dry, All terrain tyres are OK too. If wet, be aware of the river level through the Caves - trucks without a snorkel may need to be careful to avoid holes, and the Napoleons Hill climb can get a bit slippery... Thanks for your info. Heading up that way at th...

Very interesting reading as I was about to try the Mudstuck beadlocks but reading this they do NOT meet the requirements for cert, then being a waste of cash.. :( They are imported modified or manufactured that way overseas and sold as new istem so not sure they would come under this anyway. Yep i started to do it that way but found that the adjacent bolts were finger loose after torgueing the bolt up. The most reliable way that ive found is what i described above. Ive been running beadlocks for several years now with no issue. Well, the proof is in the pudding, so I guess if it works....

Re: balancing beadlocks?

I start the first part doing it opposite with bolts at 12,3,6,9 just until they start to get tight. Then use more bolts and go round and round that way you are not putting much strain on bolts as you are only doing up a little bit at a time. If you go opposite you are much more likely to strip thread.

Re: Insurance for 4wd ... Any suggestions??

Can recommend John Barley. Defiantly worth talking to them. Most insurance policys that cover you for proper off road use will only insure you for market value and that normally includes depreciating any parts fitted for mods. So a $1800 ARB locker that is 3 years old will be valued at less than hal...

For the truck driver would think he was not far wrong as taking into account the width, angle of the bridge and the corner, he would need to be fairly wide on the entry to allow for the rear wheels and length of rigid vehicle. Don't know the road and the lens distorts thinks so it is hard to tell fo...

Re: replacing tie rod ends

Wheel alignment on a safari isn't worth paying for. The only adjustable part is toe-in / toe-out. Wheels should be parallel. So with wheels pointing straight ahead, measure the distance between the front of the tyres, and then the rear of the tyres. Measurement should be equal. If not wind the tie-...

rear axle can go up into rear pillar and front axle, gearbox & transfer one can go to top of fire wall or if you are worried go inside.

Saf's are only high pinion front (small diff) they wont fit in the rear, what sort of lift have you got you might need some gearbox spacers to lower the drivetrain? You can swap the internals of the rear into a front carrier housing to make a high pinion rear. Just a 3" lift. I have got drop b...

Eye balled the bearing caps on the drive shaft side, looks in line. So assumably its in phase. Will know fore sure when it comes out for replacement. When you take it out would be a good time to check your "pinion angle" on the diff compared to output on Transfer case. Think I read somewh...

I too have 3 inch lift (or had as has now sagged) and 16mm gearbox spacer with no problems. You could try spacing your gear box down another 6mm to 16mm.

Do you know your lift is 3inch? What is the length of your springs in the vehicle including spacers etc?

Bump Still looking

Does not need to be that flash just needs to hold air and have enough tread to be legal. Can pay $$ or beer. Auckland or ideally close to Auckland best as happy to pay money for tyre but add freight just makes more expensive.
