Re: OIL CATCH CAN for 80 VX 1HDT

Did the Moroso Catch Can work out ok for the 1HDT? Works well, though is unnecessarily expensive, on subsequent vehicles I've jewed even on the hose into coke bottle an just run a hose down to the chassis rail. The $4500 on injectors / pump didn't do a lot either, to the idle / low speed smoke, i'v...

I realise it is a free for all and anyone can go in willy nilly now etc
I'll belatedly and happily put $50 towards some diesel for a machine to keep it in shape

Re: V8 diesel conversion in an 80series

What about one of the diesel V8's from a 70 series (probably more likely to get one from Aus rather than NZ) You mean the single turbo V8 found in the diesel slurping VDJ79's? They are getting cheaper to buy but not a silver bullet as the VDJ79 have wider chassis to fit than the HDJ79 If your inter...

Walk/Run away! Put it at the bottom of your list of possibles. Unless you can hear it start from cold don't buy it. If you can't get to start it from cold, or the nice mechanic selling the rolled wagon, then its most likely going to be more trouble than its worth. If you really must buy this one the...

Always wondered but never got round to testing - Does this put 24V back into the two batteries jumping the car? 90 Mile Beach isn't really a day trip, maybe if you come from aucklsnd! Its easily done in a 2wd, as others have mentioned check the tide but there only place a 2wd might get stuck is on the access in and out at each end. The sand is firm enough to do motorway speeds and you'll be at the other end i...

Could be a 24valve engine if it's got the 24V written on it, check the engine model 1HDT / F / T / E Otherwise as others have said if it's got a working series /parallel switch for starting, with dual batteries it's prob 12 with 24 starting, tho some Australian imports are just dual 12v , follow the...

Jeez I thought the price was steep at $10 delivered per plate on ebay! Let's be honest, no one buys a sheet of 1mm to make blank plates its just left over/from the scrap bin

Best taking it straight back to the dealer, they have first right of repair, if you fiddle around replacing bits and pieces, or installing a proper Temp gauge etc yourself, they may claim you have voided any warranty that it might or might not have.
