40 series (BJ42) ...drum brakes all round

I am fairly sure the current rear diff is LSD although changing to a standard one is not a concern.

Land Cruiser 4.1 diffs.

Are the front and rear diff heads interchangeble?

I have a spare front diff head... Can I bolt this into the back end without causing any problems?

Cheers

Re: over night Canterbury trips

I am keen on doing the same thing over Easter (wife is working so I am at a loose end)... So if you are happier traveling with another vehicle, it would be good to tee something up. The upper reaches of the Godley, Macauley, Rangitata, and Waimak all received a good dump of rain 6 weeks ago and exis...

so if i managed to find a supplier down here i would have to run something like 25:75 in winter and 50:50 during summer? ive never had any problem with my diesel during winter, so it would be interesting to see what biodiesel does. the final blend will depend on the process route you decide to take...

To the op: It sounds like your mate knows what he is doing :) and making good product. He is lucky to have secured a decent supply of used canola as the Fat Man and NZ Biodisel Ltd have managed to squeeze most of the small guys out. Have manufactured biodiesel for over fifteen years... I will add: Be aware that alot of what is said and done on the internet is crap / hearsay, and when looked at carefully many of the things people suggest are no more than quasi-science. Re: Macaulay / Godley valley 9 & 10 January

River was low and clear on the way in. Just the normal three crossings at the end of the road about 18 inches deep. Got about 10km up the valley and the river had gone from milky to a nasty brown with a lot of new rubbish and bits of trees coming down it. Run into one lot of quick sand in the riverb...

Re: Macaulay / Godley valley 9 & 10 January

the holes move around. Just need to read the river flows and walk the crossings first if they look at all doubtful or deeper than a foot. Pillocks managed to submerge their truck Christmas eve in a hole.... and the river was very low.... http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8120875/Crossing-ends-in-deep-...

try and isolate if the problem is coming from the front or rear brakes... Clamp the rubber hose going to the to the rear brakes above the rear diff; this will give you an indication of which end to work from. If it cures the peddle problem then try clamping the rear wheels one at a time to isolate w...
