Re: Lift & 31's and stuff
The vehicle is still around, but has not seen much use the past few years. We are still based in Australia and COVID has interrupted all of our regular travel plans to NZ. But we are expecting to get out with it in coming months. It has also been disappointing to see that our Vitara is simply illega...

Re: winchers
Yeah, winches themselves are the cheap part nowadays.
You need to find either a bar that can take a winch, or just a mounting plate. Have a look at the chassis rails up front and see what might fit. You basically need to fit a sturdy plate for the winch and fairlead that is well bolted to the chassis.

Re: Air Locker For Sale (New)
Front or rear? 10 bolt or 12 bolt (does it matter)? 22 spline or 26 spline?
ARB or other?
And it's a choice of either just the locker, or locker and compressor, correct? Thanks.

Some light reading for you OP. I found this to be an excellent guide. It refers a lot to the US Army manual on vehicle recovery.

So those JW Speakers are a good bit of kit? We pushed the go button on a pair a few weeks ago at a 4WD show - waiting for them to arrive.
Quite like the bonnet struts too - with some big tyres and a bit of lift it can be quite hard to get the bonnet up properly.

We have one, it's not even welded on, the nuts are nylock ones. A few of those along the threaded rod, the figure-8 plates at the end out of 25mm plates held on by one last pair of nylock bolts. Most difficult thing would be the plates, but get a Cad file together and get them profile cut would look...

Re: Escudo / Vitara Bodylift
Any body lift needs cert, as does the 30's on an Escudo.
It is 50mm suspension lift that is the maximum threshold for no cert.
But the cert covers anything and everything on the vehicle at the time of inspection for the one fee - so may as well change everything you want to change in one go.

Not much difference between the two, if I had to choose I would go the one on Trade Me and support Ben. You could PM here, his user name is BenT Another option is the bits4vits one. What I like about these is that they swap out the existing body mount block and are the full diameter. http://www.bits...

Re: +5.00%
Strictly speaking it is "outer rolling circumference" which, if I understand it correctly, is not computed from the size on the sidewall, but a physical measure of the tyre diameter as it rolls out in the ground.
Which would mean the variations in tyre size are to be accounted for.

Has anyone here put a turbo or supercharger onto their Suzuki? Ideally G16B or G16A Vitara.
I am interested to know what has been done for injectors, AFM/MAF, fuel delivery, and ECU (especially a starting tune if the ECU is entirely aftermarket)?
Anyone?

Smurf, we poked around it that afternoon after going through Petrol Hill with you. It is about 10m below the track and has been picked clean. We imagined winching via a pulley block to a tree on the uphill side of the track, but the track is pretty narrow here.

Re: Suzuki SusyQ on Big River trail Reefton
Big River is maybe a grade 2 with a bit of overgrowth in places from time to time. Trailer is probably easy enough.
Getting the body back up the bank would be the challenging bit. It is probably about 10m or so below the track. Likely winch it up, perhaps after cutting it into two.

Last I heard from some of the Shotover club was that the track had been opened up again well beyond the pinch point I recall getting to. Which was well past Shepherds Creek Hut and perhaps a km or so past dog box hut.

Is the "rust in the rope" just rust coloured stains? If so, don't worry about it and chuck it on. Post a photo if you are still concerned. It won't cause further rust either. Wet winch rope will. I wash my rope (& the extensions if I have used them) in a few buckets of warm soapy water...

Shake the rust off, give the rope a wash in some warm soapy water, rinse, dry and see how it looks then.
The shape should return, but you want to check for any cuts and other damage beyond a bit of fuzz.
If it is only the wraps in the drum that are a problem, cut that bit off.
