Re: Nissan PTO winch - winding the rope on the top of the drum

The pto mounts vertically at rear , so top or bottom feed makes no difference to leverage, unlike a horizontal bottom std electric winch. The std drum is aluminium and the weak point is generally the sides or ends, the issue like I experienced was bunching of dyneema rope on the end put so much comp...

Re: New to 4wd with a Safari

Unless u know exactly what they did and if indeed a service was done, I would do a complete fluid change. Ie Eng oil &filters, fuel filter, trans gearbox and diff oils. Radiator guys tell me crossflows are prone to clogging up and getting them properly cleaned every few yrs is a good thing, made ...

My snorkel is 4" all the way to the turbo, includes custom airbox 4" in/out obviously. Imagine breathing through a drinking straw....then breath through a bit of 25mm pipe. That's the same effect I had in going 4" induction. Massive difference. x2. ive in sep stages: turbod, intercoo...

your needs really define 2 types of vehicles (ruling out all the larger options) and assuming u need to mount winch 1- something light. quiet, and does not attract too much attention, go gnarly places = suzuki - 2 dr 2-Reasonably comfortable and reliable on our usual trips down the line with the fam...

Yes full bodied swb gq Winch tube hard against exhaust both both wrapped and have no heat issues Agree with your 900mm, it's what I'm about to do as the 500-600mm isn't enough to fully spool across width of drum. Couple more pics as I've got a Runva mounted on other side The added bonus of moving wi...

I turbod my 88 gq about 3 yrs ago Paid a guy to do it, as I had never really played with diesels. I had similar question a few yrs ago prior to Turboing mine Talked to many people and searched this and the Aust patrol forum the Overall impression was: if turboed - not a lot of gain for $ spent unless your building a high end engine and after the last 1%. For NA - great gains, http://www.patrol4x...

Re: Recommendations on boost controller&waste gate

Agreed - hence why I need it correctly tuned
Have new 12mmpump, water to air i/c, 4inch ss snorkel, moddied exhaust manifold, custom airbox/filter ~600cfm , plus a 3inch exhaust.
Im told the 12mm will supply more fuel than I will ever need, even with larger turbo.

Steve - my advice unless money is no object (there's an easy $10-15k plus in your list) is to join a local 4wd club. Get out on a few diff trips track types and talk to the club guys, then decide what mods you really need, many of them will have done it all before. its comes down to "where and ...

ok i read this thread and unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish posted. the first thing is a diesel with to much air is not a bad thing like a petrol. the opposite infact, where a lean petrol will run hot a lean diesel runs cooler. but since you have decided to play with power, i would STRONGLY r...
