2005+ model Hilux who has one

Just wondering who else has a 2005+ model Hilux. Ive got a 2008 sr5. Curious to know what people have done to them for off roading, how do you find them. Mainly use mine for Hunting and a road vehicle. Have found it is far to low and bottoms out a bit, so needs a lift and bigger tyres.

Re: Lower rim offset FJ70

After having a closer look at the cruiser, the front is wider than the rear, so all i really need to do is run some spacers up the back to match the front. Im guessing this shouldnt cause any issues? Ive read this wheel track issue is common on the newer 70s

Re: Lower rim offset FJ70

Not sure on 70 series but rear arches aren't overly big 15x10 -44 can cause it to rub on the outer edge of the gaurd when off road flexing and can damage you tyres and truck A lot of people who have them are more after the look of tyres sticking out past the gaurd lol I recommend a low offset 15x8 ...

Re: Lower rim offset FJ70

No, a bit more offset will not cause your wheel bearings to suddenly implode...  Never said they would suddenly implode, but would the extra offset not cause extra stress on the wheel bearings seeing as the majority of the weight of the vehicle is being moved further past the bearing?

Lower rim offset FJ70

Im sure this has been asked before but i will ask again as i cant seem to find anything. Rim off set for an FJ70 Land cruiser running 35s. It currently has 15x8s unsure of the offset but it rubs slightly on the iner gaurd and exhaust when it flexes. So i am considering going to a 15x10 with a lower ...

Re: Eyre creek track Southland?

Dragging up an old thread, has anyone done this trip recently? How far up can you get and whats the track like? I see on the doc website it is still the same, says you can get to the 1st hut than walk or bike the rest.

Rim offset

Im needing some lower offset rims as ive noticed with my 35s they are just rubbing on the inside of the wheel arch. From what i can work out they are 15x8 with about +11 or 12 offset. I know the 'cool' thing to do is chuck a set of 15x10 -100 offset for that super stanced look, but im not after that...

WTB:Landcruiser 70 heater control non A/C

Im after the heater control thing for the dash, that controls the vents/heat/cool. Prefer Non A/C but not sure if they are any different apart from the A/C switch? So will consider A/C if you can post a pic so i can check with mine.
Cheers

Lock it front or rear

Next on the agenda for the mighty cruiser is a locker. It currently has a factory LSD rear diff, i was thinking keep LSD in the back and put a Lokka in the front, or save some extra pennies and put an air locker in the back and move the LSD to the front. What is going to be the most beneficial?

Dont do a spring over job. It just stuffs the whole set up up. Look at ome spring and shocks. The aussy stuff not the mexican stuff. Sway bars. Well off road they they will hold you back by lifting the wheel rather than allowing flex. Whether you need them on road is personal. Remove one side link ...

Suspension setup for FJ70

I am looking for ideas for setting up the suspension in my FJ70, from what i can see it is stock, running 35s with minimal guard rub at full flex while turning. So does the job for now. I have a body lift to install which should eliminate any guard rub. I dont want to go super high to try and avoid ...
