Hilux leaf spring relocation kit
I have acquired a set of 32 inch mickey thompson tyres, on 15x10 rims. When trying the tyres on my ln106 hilux I get a small rub at full lock, full compression, passengers side only The tyres have taken car of the guards pushed them up, I also hit the guard with a hammer to tidy it up, and painted i...

Re: Auto-Lockers (Yes / No)
There is no Torque delivered to front axle in 2wd, auto locker should not be a problem at all. It's used in Wranglers fairly commonly in US. Even in snowy conditions. I have auto lockers front and rear in my hilux, they go great on the slippery stuff but on gravel I go into 2wd, you can definitely ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
My ln106 hilux was hard to get out of of 4wd, and that was before I put front and rear auto lockers in, I use to try reverse etc to no avail.
I then figured out the way to unwind the transfer case was to drive with the front wheels straight ahead, even with my lockers this method works everytime

My Pajero had the same issue, it was the ecu not talking to the speedo, mitis's won't go into od unless the ecu knows the engine is warm enough and the speed high enough, maybe toyotas are the same.

If it is not getting overly hot, and then cooling down to barely warm I would suspect that the thermostat is either jammed open or not there.

Re: Newbie with an old surf
My hilux had standard springs, very flat looking, 31s would rub on the drivers firewall at full lock, turning right. I put a 2 inch lift in, 31s will just touch at full articulation, but that could be my hilux as when I had my last wheel alignment done I found out my drivers front wheel is 5mm furth...

try use the biggest mm2 cable you can find to keep the resistance down the cables they supply with most of those entry level winches is low gauge and tends to get a bit warm and droopy its not good for the performance and longevity of the winch motor when thing's are operating under those condition...

Started the weekend by fitting a new Mudstuck 9,500 winch to my hilux. In answer to the questions I had before fitting the winch 1. Yes a 9,500lb electric winch can be installed into a MCC winch bar on LN106 hilux without removing the bar, it's a one man job even. 2. No there is no where to mount th...

Re: Winch dimensions
Winch dimensions are with the free spool lever opposite the winch feet. On an MCC bar the feet sit forward, the free spool lever is moved 90 degrees to still be onto, does anyone know what the dimensions change to when this is done? What I am asking is on these winches is the width the same as the h...

I have a MCC bar on the front of my LN106 solid axle Hilux. With these bars the winch bolts up "feet forward", there is a small lip at the bottom of the front of the bar, I assume it is there to add strength. I am thinking about mounting an electric winch, around 9500lbs, Runva, Mudstuck e...

Also with FMG my policy covers me so long as the vehicle is being used what it was designed for, so my hilux is covered for both on an off road, just not competition.

MCC bar with fog light inserts, how strong is the plastic.
Looking at a bar, MCC ones are the right price but all have plastic blanks in them for future fog lights.
I try not to have lights where they will get broken.
Does anyone have any experience with these?
Is the plastic strong enough / well protected for bush bashing, winching through drains etc?

I have bought gearbox parts from http://www.toyotaonlineparts.com/ before, good price and quick delivery.
For the latch you could try ebay.com, I have recently bought two plastic window winders (I needed one) for $7.00 ex taiwan.

I have some inline resistors, used them when I put LED's on my motorbike to slow the flash rate before I changed the flasher unit.
Can drop them off in town, Whangarei tomorrow, if you want to try them in the circuit to see if they work

Do the front LED's light up when hazards are on, and normal indicators work when swapped for the lEDs?
Maybe it is looking for more resistance?

What is your location and how much tread do you need on the tyre
I might have my old spare (looking at getting a new rim and tyre for my spare so will have the old hilux rim with a worn 31x10.5x15 mt, would only just be legal.

Re: Rough estimation of hp after mods...
Cheapest mod I did to my 3l hilux (2.8 non turbo diesel) was auto lockers front and rear. Cost a little over $300 an axle from lokka.com plus fitting and its off road capabilities were dramatically improved. I have also have a 2 inch suspension lift, extractors and a 2½ inch exhaust exiting in front...

Re: Stolen FJ40 Landcrusier
Hey nzlux. The reason I was thinking of marking stuff in a way that's not obvious is because if someone for example say pinches your wagon and rips off the bullbar and you've got your name/ rego whatever welded inside it the tea-leaf will see it and just grind it off, spray some black, job done. Wi...

[quote="Shepherd"It might pay if people have bull-bars, winches etc to think about marking them in some way a thief might not easily notice but can be used to ID them. [/quote] Probably better to mark the bolt on bits in a way that cannot be removed (a weld, engraved registration number et...

What type of dog and does it get on well with other dogs, horses, chickens cats etc?
I ask because we live on a lifestyle block between Whangarei and Dargaville and my wife has offered to dog sit for the day (I will be going on the run).
