Re: Prado - Southland Vehicle Project

We run duratrac on all our utes at work as an aggressive MT. get about 70,000km out of them and they are great on the road. Heaps more road (and off road of course) grip than the standard road tyres that come on the utes when new.

Love them

Re: Installing internal regulator alternator in 93 Hilux

Just updated the old post. From memory this all worked a treat.... Though I never did quite get the battery light right and it never comes on even when alt not charging.

Cheers,
Pete

What has been done to the fuel pump?

Sounds like a linkage is gone in there? Very odd that is kept running but wouldn't start. Was it running smooth ?

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

If you are still to go for a cert you will probably want to do RUF and cross over now as you will certainly want to do it at some stage and no point getting a cert more than once. It is better but you don't HAVE to do it. Moving the axle forward and trimming the guards/body should get the 35's fitti...

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

I'm all for the 35s if you want them. And as much as I like rears up front and crossover you can make 35s fit just fine without it if you move the axle and have a body lift or even better trim the guards and smash the shit out of the wheel arch. If you need a Cert anyway then go rears up front. If y...

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

Why do you want to go higher? Will tha 6 inch lift your suspension will probably already be stiff as buggery and resetting and adding for an extra leaf will just make it firmer.

I assume you want to move the axle forward to stop the 35s from rubbing?

How to change td42 fuel cut solenoid?

My mates safari needs the fuel cut solenoid changed. It cut out and I found it had blown the fuse to the fuel cut. It was a 5amp fuse rather than the 10 it was meant to have (fuses were all recently changed as a precaution after drowning it so hadn't been a 5 for long) I changed the fuse and got pow...

Re: 1994 mistral R20 rear drum brake problem

What happens if you pump the brakes? there will be a way of holding the shoes out when not braking whether it's a non return valve of sorts or mechanical adjuster at the brake itself. If this isn't working then you will need to pump the brakes a couple of times to get the shoes out. Pedal would stil...

Touché photo bucket. Suck us in them hold us ransom. Looks like a paid account is needed for embedding or linking photos. But the account that gets you that is $39.99 a month! Re: Upgrade from a ct20

It was a between $600 and $700 with me supplying turbo. I think I mentioned the price later in my thread. Spools up really quick full boost by about 2000 rmp (My rev gauge isn't that accurate) I'm currently running 13PSI with boost compensater and a home EGT tune. A mate of mine had the same motor w...

Pinion play

A mate of mine has a hilux with a heap of play in the rear diff pinion. Play is up and down. The diff sounds fine, nice and smooth etc.

I was wondering if I should tighten the pinion nut to take up some of the play or if I should just leave it alone?

Re: Another Hilux with starting issues

An update to this. I have done two things. Firstly I put in a much bigger battery (1100CCA rather than the 600CCA that was in there) which made a BIG difference. The old battery was ok but had been flattened a few times and struggled with the diesel. When I rebuilt my starter the first time I did th...

Yea auto locker in the front is a pain but would rather have it than not have it and can't afford a selectable at this stage.

Often the issue is at idle when trying to make a 20 point turn haha. Anybody thought of putting a smaller pulley on the pump to get some more revs?

Hilux power steering upgrade

Hi all, When off road my trucks power steering struggles while going slow with the big wheels and locked front diff all crossed up etc. You often have to really swing on the wheel and the pump gets quite loud as I assume its getting to bypass pressure. I have replaced the pump and steering box which...

Re: grand cherokee advice

V6 prados go great. But our one got between 14-20l per 100km. Normally around 15/16. Heaps of grunt. Really comfy especially if you get a leather one. Toyota traction control is hat to beat off road. Would idle through with two wheels off the ground. Much better than my 2015 dmax. Towed really well.
