Re: HJ45 flatdeck restoration

The engine has been running low on power and white smoking so I got the injectors rebuilt to no avail so I had a compression test done and I have knackered valves :( I was going to rebuild the head but I found a good runner for less than a gasket set so I'm going to try that first. It is a later H a...

Re: Nissan PTO winch - winding the rope on the top of the drum

Like Mudsurf said, you increase the forces on the mountings and can break side plates or bend the chassis mounts. Bottom feeds keeps the cable coser to the mountings.

Re: inlet manifold tech

I can see a problem with tuned length runners and that is they will only be tuned for one engine speed. As the frequency of the pulses increases the runners would need to be shorter to get the same effects. I imagine it is much more useful in an atmospheric engine where gains are small but in a turb...

Re: LED head lights

Those speaker lights are great, but they are not cheap!
I have trucklite units in my l200 and they are nearly as good but cheaper.
The chrome ones came from scarles and have lost one of the four main beam leds but I got nowhere with warranty from them and they don't stock them anymore.

Re: LED head lights

If the lights have an E mark then you will have no problems. I have a set from Caleb that I am not going to use as I preferred the chrome look but they don't have the mark. He has had them fitted for WoFs and got a pass . There are pics on his Facebook page filthy4x4. You can have my set and I could...

Re: Electrics- 24v to 12v

I'm putting a 2H-T from a 24v 60 series into my 12v 40 mud truck. I have gone for a cable stop control, 10.5v heater plugs with a manual button and I'm going to try to swap the starter motor electrics from my old 12v b engine to the nose cone on the 2h unit. I'll let you know how the motor swap goes...

Open up the key you have and take out the rfid chip and tape it inside the steering column shroud and then you can get ordinary keys cut ;)

Re: 60 series crossmember

You can fit a HJ60 5 speed straight onto the 2F bellhousing . The box is 88mm longer so you have to shorten the rear and lengthen the front or shorten the rear donor 60 shaft to use as the new front.
I do have a spare HJ60 crossmember if you really want one.

Hi Krooza, pretty much none of the mods have been non reversable apart from the heater but that was an option for 76. It does get used as my daily driver when I'm not on call which has been too frequently lately but the furthest north it has been is to lake hood. It does Temuka to Washdyke most days...

Unfortunately it has got a petrol coarse spline plate in it as it's been converted from a 2F to a 3B-T. I should have rememb...

Re: Grafting a Subaru turbo onto a TD27/D21

Are you running the wastegate actuator direct off the boost pressure? It may be worth checking what pressure the wastegate opens at, it should be about 10 psi but maybe the spring has weakened. If it is opening early you could try a bleed tee to up the boost. Do you get any black smoke? Maybe you ju...

Just put water in it. It's not like it's cold outside! The anti corrosive properties will be fine till you can do the job properly. Better than mixing coolants.

I'll have to agree with Zukmeister, they will achieve noting for you if you have lockers. Even without they will have only a marginal effect on traction but will make it scary to drive on a slope. You would be better off water ballasting your tyres....

Pull the return line off the reservoir and plug the inlet. Then run the hose to the top of the res. and run the engine to check flow from the return. If there is nothing or a dribble then take the high pressure line off the box and run that to the filler and check the flow again. Don't run the pump ...

Re: Grafting a Subaru turbo onto a TD27/D21

The subaru factory wastegate spring is 8-10 psi, higher pressures are obtained by modulating the signal to the capsule. The cooling lines are a must with a petrol motor where the housing can get glowing hot fairly easily, you have to be adding a shed load more fuel to get a diesel that hot.
