Re: Safari GVM

Where did you obtain the NZTA rating from? There should not be a difference between NZTA and Carjam as they both come from the same register. I use both carjam and the motorvehicle register (landata) on nearly a daily basis, the information has never differed. NZTA does have the authority to change ...

Re: Safari GVM

Just been on the phone with a Nissan guy (who was talking to a guy in Aussie) and, for my model, the kerb weight is 2160, GVM is 2800. And GCM is 5300. The GCM in this case is a combination of GVM and GTM. They've said increasing GVM will, in this case, increase GCM as well. Does towball downforce ...

How would one get in touch with the technical committee?, via a certifier?.

So I called em up and they said it could be done. Result!.

Do you need to submit it to the Technical Committee? Have they given you a process to work through?

Would goosenecking a formerly ford transit-camper and putting a class 5/ turntable on my truck be up your alley? Follow-up question, could you make a quick-detach turntable hitch? I'm guessing not, but have to ask! If it has a GVM of over 3500kg the those modificaitons will require certification fr...

Shouldn't be a problem, Brian may have been passed it my way anyway. I am working in with Brian, he is quite busy and has been trying to slow down a little so is passing off a lot of repair and re-cert work my way. He's getting too old to climb under vehicles he reckons :D PM me your contact details...

Re: Checkerheads new project.

Regarding the welding electrode strength look for in in the Specification / Classification of the wire.

e.g. AS/NZS 14341 B-G49, the 49 x10 = the tensile strength in MPA so 490 MPA
If its American it will be something like ER70-6 the 70 means 70,000 PSI Tensile strength

Re: Checkerheads new project.

You have me thinking as well, I'm a heavy vehicle transport enginner/certifier. This is a little different than what I typically come across and I havent been 4wding for about 5 years so its a good head scratcher in regards the different loading scenarios. In regards to the material spec 1090 has a ...

Re: Checkerheads new project.

What is the max stress reached for that loading scenario? its a little hard to read. The way in which you have fixed your link arm is not that realistic, if you consider a simple beam with both ends fixed (which is similar to how you have fixed it) the beams bending moment is half that of if it was ...

Wanted - Landcruiser lower tailgate and driver seat

Wanted 80 series cruiser lower tailgate, prefer the maroon colour without the rear wheel mount but will take anything in good condition.

Also after a drivers seat, not too fussed what model it is from.

I'm located in Auckland so closer the better.

Which 350 are you fitting? I've got an adapter kit to a td42 manual and starter which may fit out of the one I parted out last year if your interested.

We ran a sparkshop even charger to take care of the computer and starter. Kept everything else 24v. Still have that to sell too
