Talk to the boys at Smash Palace on any Thursday Bike Night.
Some of the Quake City Rumblers turn up there, and Greg and Johnny are into their bikes, and have lots of contacts who are stuck on stepthrus.

Re: KZJ71 Rear Diff

if you search on this forum you will find info on the motor. Likely by WJW. As I understand it they are the same as the actuator motor for the 80 series, and also for a transfer case selection or something... (off the top of my head) I would be fixing the factory one, as they work well, having had l...

Bellamy & East only make leaf springs. They do a damn good job too, at fair prices.
They get what coils they need from Chamberlains.

Whilst Autolign are owned by the same company as BNT, they specialise in shocks and springs and offer a wide range.

Re: A frame towing WITH BRAKES.

Dude, there is a small truck that runs weekly to Dorkland from Shaketown with boats and spa-pools on it. Often tows two boats on separate trailers. He used to be based in Rangiora, but I see that guy drives for someone else now. I think it may be a Jeffs Towing truck. There will be a post on here fr...

I recommend the Meindl range as well. I got mine as almost brand new via an ex army shop. They had been some German airforce dudes. A very stiff full leather alpine boot with a 3/4 steel shank above the Vibram sole. Great for rock hopping. One point when looking for any boot for NZ terrain. Make sur...

Good to see HoseHustler commenting on this. Tim is likely the most knowledgeable professional Firey on this site, for those who don't know. So foam it is for this laddie when I buy new extinguishers. That where the sidewalls of the BFGs got damaged or cut. BFGs shouldnt do that if the pressure is within their guidelines and no tubes are used. They have one of the toughest sidewalls available. Pressures were normal, but the rocks aren't! Frost heave rock with sharp edges originating off track si...

Impressive getting up that gorge. Will check it out again as I next go up, this week. The two concrete abutments that you pass either side of the river. Are these within a mile or 2 upstream of Sloven Stream / where the rickkerty old drovers bridge is, and the old Craigieburn Homested? If so, this m...

Re: What mud tyres to buy

You can also get the Kumho KL-71 for a similar price. I have been using these tyres for about 6 years and find them good allround performers. They are quiet and grip really well on road. Off road I have had less sidewall puncturing than my previous 2 sets of BFG MTs, and they grip in the mud just as...

Had my Prado ECU done by Anything Electronic between Christmas & New Year 2 years ago. Turn around was quick and am still very grateful for what they did, and when. If you want to use another ECU, it has to be from a Prado, Surf ones are different, and it needs to be from the same transmission t...

Mate recently got an M90 off ebay for about $180. His one ended up being a rear inlet mount type one which did not really suit his flathead V8 application. Bought it, installed it beautifully and the car goes well! His intake fabrication mods were cheaper than the ideal blower. I understand the 90 i...

Surprised about only 10 psi! My older shaped Prado, the KZJ-71 runs 13 to 14 PSI from memory. Been a while since I had the very accurate and borrowed gauge in it. There is no tap etc, but it does have a ported cyl head, mostly on the exhaust side. Maybe this raises things, though I thought that 12 w...

Re: cam regrind ?

My comment would be that a NA LD28 would not be revving to 4.5 in a standard car. The Laurel that I am using does not have a Tacho, however it definitely seems lower revving than that. My guess would be about 3.5k max. Maybe your motor has already been fiddled with? Sure your tacho is correct? Being...

Mr FastBat What revs does the engine like? And where will it be, still similar if and when you blow it? Ie what is your good torque range?
