Re: Do i keep the disco?

Keep it. They are very capable in standard form. With a mild lift and decent tyres you will be surprised just what they will do off road. Plus it probably only owes you $3000 or less if you bought it non-running so you can't really go wrong. Even if you sell it for $5K, whatever else you buy 4X4 for...

Re: Critical injury from flying object in NSW

Sorry but that's NOT a freak accident.

That's what happens when you do poor recovery.

Either poor technique or poor gear or probably a combo of both.

I really hope the guy recovers well but this is not the first injury causing recovery and it won't be the last.

Re: 7 Seater options

Not too sure where to post this so will try here! I have decided to upgrade the (not so) trusty surf and get a new vehicle I have had to do so much work on the surf and it is still just an old 2.4l truck plus I need 7 seats now. Must haves: 7 seats Budget $20kish obviously would prefer less but can...

Yeah - Bloody awesome driving from Hayden Paddon.

Just goes to show, to win a rally, you don't need 4wd - a turbo - a sequential box or even fuel injection! What you DO need is talent :D

And that's why I'm not a rally driver...................... sob :(

mine is a 2004 so it should have steel dowels from factory. when I get my nanocom I'll be able to better see maf and boost etc so I'll get it running sweet and stock first before deciding what to change I'll be doing a full service, all oils and trans flush too before I start tweaking. I better doub...

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5

I'll do a stall test on mine when I get a chance. when cold it takes a while to get top gear but I think that's normal. change up points depend on right foot position but about 2500 ish sounds about right. cruise at 100 k is a shade over 2000 rpm. that's torque converter locked up in 4th. marco- did...

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5

That's a pretty good deal. the V8 was very different to drive, I got the center muffler replaced for a free flow one half the size so it sounded proper! All the power and torque is just off idle so you didn't need revs or much throttle. Totally different to the td5. Your right, they are sure not fas...

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5

Thanks, I had a facelift D2a before the Pajero but that one was a V8 and had tiny K's. It was a top spec minter with all the toys. This one has done double the k's and has less toys but I'm stoked with it. (and it's got a winch) Nanocom was bought direct from BBS and yes AUD was way cheaper for some...

Discovery 2? 2004 D2a. What style can you do for this? I prefer the look of the flat bars with no loop. Cheers. :)

Nahh the M998 HMMWV is a million times more mobile, dependable, reliable and serviceable than the Mercedes. Can tell you first hand they are easy as hell to work on. The HMMWV was revolutionary purpose built war machine whereas the Mercedes Gelandewagen is just a 4wd with diff locks that capitalise...

Heaps of different transfer box ratios and available diff ratios about if it won't turn the 35's as standard. Or even an Ashcroft underdrive unit.

Awesome vid and truck. Those trucks just soak up the bumps and huge drops like a sponge. You can see a few practice marks on the road - I wonder if there are any "blooper" moments out there where he got it a bit wrong? Looks like he very nearly backed it over the edge at the beginning in t...

When you say lacking in power, can you be more specific? These 2.5's have a nice on-boost surge when pulling from low revs with WOT (Wide Open Throttle) Does yours have a "boost" in the power delivery? Can you hear the turbo spool up? Does the motor sound good? Rattles? Can you get a mate ...

That diesel Zuk would be nice but it's gonna be over budget even before fixing it. Looking around that other one linked above is 300K and priced accordingly. I'm thinking still of a Rugger, Vitara maybe as big as a swb Paj 2.5td. Even looked at a Terios the other day! Nothing is urgent, if it doesn'...

From what I saw the oil in the sump is original. i.e not all used up in an engine run-away situation. Also it turns over fine. Coolant is fresh and green and full indicating no overheat. Re: Wanted - cheap 1st 4wd for daughter

That Grand Vitara would be good but even with a broke motor it's gonna be over my budget. I did go and take a look tho' It still has oil and water at full levels and the owner reports it revved high and made white smoke before stopping. It turns over fine now but won't fire. I actually think I know ...
