Re: Off road trailer build with patrol wheels...stub axles??
Thanks for that link, I'm thinking that if I can get something mostly done, and then sort out the axles, or whatever, then I'll have something I can use rather than planning the 'best of the best' but never getting it finished. This thing here on TM with a trailer frame attached would be half way th...

Re: Off road trailer build with patrol wheels...stub axles??
Thanks for that, that is exactly what I need, didn't think about the imperial sizing. Any opinions on using NATO hitch instead of the 1-7/8 ball for dragging it up a riverbed?, tandam or single axle? I like this one, or maybe a bit smaller, so you can get a bit of gear and have enough room for 2 sma...

Off road trailer build with patrol wheels...stub axles??
Thinking about building an off road trailer or camper, want the same wheels as on the '92 patrol, 15" 6x139.7 stud pattern. Can you get stub axle assemblies in that size? can't find much on the web, or is it better to use an old back axle, and that will have spring and shock mount points alread...

Re: Any of these new Yoko G003 muds in the south island?
Thanks for that, interesting observation about the edges and mud grooves, bit more meat on the edge might help the pootrol get round the corners. Ordered a set, will post a pic once they are on. Also have the old 32x11.5x15 on trademe as a set of 4, three are 10mm tread, one is 4mm tread. $1 start h...

They work side by side out of the same building, they are both good and professional, I think Don gets a bit of flak from the boys racers, but I would guess its because they are trying to pull something. I have had 3 veh through there and find them helpful and work with you to get it right, it does ...

My supra went from a non turbo 2jz to a 1jz vvti turbo and needed drive shaft hoops, there is a figure for power increase when hoops become a requirement I think The best place to start is here https://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents.html good to just read through the various sections, it not too bad to ...

Re: Where to find a factory Patrol 1992 Y60 12v diff solenoid?
Thanks for the replies, MAC will certainly be on the shopping list if i can't turn up an original. Bit of back ground, my diff lock turns itself on after about 10 minutes driving and won't turn off without swapping the vacum hoses around, otherwise works fine when cold etc What I reckon is happening...

Where to find a factory Patrol 1992 Y60 12v diff solenoid?
Any good places to start looking for a 12v patrol 1992 4.2 TD diff lock solenoid that bolts on the top of the firewall in front of the passenger seat. Can get the aftermarket Mac 45A-GC1-DDBA-1BA 12 VDC one which is apparently vastly superior to the factory one according to the aussies, but wouldn't...

Wtd 1990-95 SWB 4.2 Diesel turbo Nissan Safari manual to around $12k, Kms under 300k, or auto if much lower kms is fine. If you or your mates/workmates etc are thinking of selling one of these, feel free to flick me a pm, prefer something in or around Chch, so I can have a drive and hear it run. Som...

Re: Nissan Safari 1995 opinions wtd
The GU's all look a bit LWB for me, I know there is a 3 door, but haven't seen one of those. Rust is a worry on the safaris, and suppose its luck of the draw, but I would be having a good look over whatever is on offer. Any sensibly priced wagon on trademe seems to sell easily so they are still in d...

Nissan Safari 1995 opinions wtd
Had a swb safari years ago, went okay but preferred v8 rovers for some reason Thinking it might be time to have another look at a Nissan, like the idea of the diesel for a bit of water work, turbo for a bit more go, auto as I can't be arsed changing gears and SWB so I don't belly on stuff. Re: Bullbars got WOF for years, now take them off?
Yep, talked to Don (cert guy down here) and there is a bit to it. Bag recesses have to be filled with foam, bag loom, ecu etc out as has been stated here. But also the auto sparker has to fill out a form that all this has been done according to whatever lvvta spec is current today. Didn't know about...

Re: Bullbars got WOF for years, now take them off?
Thanks for taking time to comment on this, I'm kinda resigned to doing it properly and get cert and then it never going to be an issue again. Presume its an auto sparky job to remove bags etc, then down for cert and no doubt they will find something else they don't like, fcuking Jobsworths!

Bullbars got WOF for years, now take them off?
Old bars have been on the disco for years, before I have it, always got a wof, no one even commented on the bars. Last wof, I get those front bars aren't compliant with the air bag sensor, so no wof. Not that keen on taking them off, as they are all tied up with the winch and the bash plate, so what...

Air Lift Spring Helper Discovery 1 ???
Up in the wilbreforce a couple of days back, wagon (Disco1) going great, even put the nose under for a bit, no worries. The drive up and back on the road is the bastardy bit, 90kph is about it due to its knifey handling. 2" lift, 31.5" every bush changed/replaced, toe set, caster sorted et...

Re: Rear winch on a disco?
Some good points there, thanks for that. Using it to let yourself down a face wasn't something I thought about but would work quite well (although might be a bit hard core for me), but could be handy to let a boat trailer down and pull it back up again. Another use is to winch stuff onto a trailer, ...

Re: Rear winch on a disco?
I better clear this up before it all goes sideways. Already have a front winch, no problem with that, handy piece of kit. I'm considering an additional one on the back, either on the rear bar work, or in the removeable tow ball/recovery hook attachment or even inside on the floor (with mounting thro...

Anybody run a rear winch on a disco? Always looking for a project, can weld up a removeable cradle okay, but are they worth having. Spent a couple of hours making one up yesterday, 3 hole type with the offset handle like the one below, but my ones a bit rougher coz I used the welder to fabricate it, anyway if you are in Chch you are welcome to borrow it (or further afield by arrangement), as the viscous fan can be a bit piggy to...

Pics attached showing 31x10.5 x15 on the old tart, has 50mm lift and a bit more clearance created. For the guys that have gone through this before, what diameter could this go up to and still clear okay (allowing for 11.5" or 12.5" or whatever aspect)?, especially the back wheel when right...
