Fitting Head Rests to Series Land Rover
Looking for some ideas to remove front seats and fit some with head rests. 2a Seats.jpg Ive got 2 little girls aged 11 and want them to be reasonably protected. I have looked at all the replacement seats out there and there are plenty, all with head rests for the outer seats but can't seem to find a...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
Cracked It!! :D A wet afternoon spent in the shed moving stuff about from one side to the other. IMG_4432.jpg I can't believe how sensitive these parabolic springs are. About 20kgs shows 5mm difference in height. She is sitting perfectly level now and is a good 30mm higher than before with the new s...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
I have two fuel tanks. One on each side. So they balance out. The batteries are are a bit of a problem as I have two both on the drivers side. The front springs are parabolic a too and are reasonably new but I could try swapping them. The differences in height is very sensitive as the springs are so...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
Fitted my new 3 leaf springs today. Took about 3 hours to do both back ones. Sat truck down off jacks and she sat about 25mm higher than before and straight and level. I was very pleased. Took her for a drive after loading gear back in and when I got home I noticed she had settled a little and was l...

Re: Wiring up Spotlights advice
Thanks for the Alternator info. Are you saying I won't get a warrant with lights attached to my roof rack? Aren't they just work lights if they are wired up on a separate circuit from any other lights? I am aware I can't drive on the road with them on. I need about 2.5 - 3m of cable for the front an...

Re: Wiring up Spotlights advice
Thanks guys, I am going to run with lighter cables as you suggest and put 2 relays on the front lamps running 2 lamps each. I also think I will get some LED bulbs and see how they function. As for the cable coming off the alternator I think you are right Pete it is the main Charging wire. See new pi...

I could always change the bulbs to LED ones that would reduce the wattage a huge amount I think these run at about 6 watts

Re: Wiring up Spotlights advice
If my alternator can take it, is this correct? Spotlight Wiring.png I have a secondary battery that charges through a VSR unit. Re: Wiring up Spotlights advice
Brilliant. It never ceases to amaze me this forum. You guys give your time and knowledge freely. Thank you very much. I've bought a couple of made up wiring kits on eBay with 40 amp relays and fuses built in. Now I know the reason for the relays and that I can reverse the switch polarity I feel more...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
Here are all the springs under loading you can see the front isn't too bad but the rears are flat.
Im going to do what you suggest and put a leaf in and see if it improves anything before I start spending.

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
IMG_3683.JPG The weight of opinion seems to be falling on the side of new springs perhaps I should give this further thought. Here is a picture of the front passenger spring (the best spring) without any loading on it, no roof rack or anything empty truck. The drivers side is a bit flatter than thi...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
So spoke to spring guy today. He thought I should take springs off and have them tempered then put an ordinary leaf in to stiffen and lift them a bit, then back on with them. Went to local land rover 4x4 guy and he said throw them away and put new land rover springs on and forget about parabolics. H...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
Where is the best place to buy new springs. Should I buy ordinary leaf or get parabolic again. I will probably do as much road driving as gravel or off rd. my primary use is for getting out there camping in the more rugged areas. That involves carrying a bit of gear for long distances then going off...

Re: Parabolic Springs on 2a
You are probably right about the overloading as they only have two leaves in each spring. I didn't fit them they were on it when I bought it. This is my land Rover and it is ex army so has a fuel tank on each side. I try to balance out the weight in these. I think they are just too weak for the purp...

I have parabolic springs on my 88" 2a and the drivers side is sagging a bit lower than the other now by about 40mm partly weight distribution but even when unloaded it sits about 25 -30mm lower. Is it possible to have these strengthened or do I just replace them with new or go back to normal le...

I bought a fairy overdrive for my series 2a couple of days ago. Thought this would be a simple fit and would have been except: at some point in the past someone had fitted a larger output gear to the end of the gear shaft, the one you take off to replace with the overdrive gear. It had been drilled ...
