Re: 42 Traverse cut back 2015

Shame we don't have the rights of access legislation the old UK has. things like RUPPs (road used as public path) and bridleways are gold. Basically, once something has been deemed a road, it will always be a legal road. If you chose ...

Re: The 42 Traverse Discussion Thread

How long does it usually take to drive the length of the traverse? It took us 3.5 hours one-way with a couple of snack/photo breaks. About the same time as a mountain bike then  You wouldn't have a head-on, as they all go from the plateau down to Owhango, apart from 2 hills it feels as if you...

Re: Thompson Track

Neither, no interest beyond wanting to get in there. I did it as a bike ride 2 months back. Was also using it as a reccy to see what the hype was about. I've wanted to do the West side for a while. What got me, was anytime that you could look back at the track where there had been a slip (and the sl...

Ive got the fast find from smart marine for $529 http://www.fastfindplb.com/en/ Was keen on the ACR but as I'm trail running or Mountain biking, and the thing will be thrown in and out of bags over the next ten years. Re: Thompson Track

And although impossible to prove, just about all the slips on the western side lie approx 100 below all the logging operations. So would it be fair to say that after 80 odd years, the track only became unusable after they logged the hilltops?

Re: Thompson Track

I rode this on my MountainBike in Feb. On the Matamata side, the forestry area has completely cut away the track. The new roads have dug away the track and left 10m bluffs to the extent that it's single file walking. Are there any plans to relocate this km of track or are the forestry going to re-in...

Hi from 'North Auckland'.

Hi, from warkworth

Not into hardcore 4wd, but keen to explore on easier routes and unformed roads for day-trips and adventures.
Have a Delica with 31's set-up for camping etc.
Having biked the 42nd a few times, I reckon it may be do-able sometime in Jan during dry weather, any advice?

Re: 42nd Traverse trimming 23 Nov 2013

Anyone?

I've mtb'd this a couple of times, keen to drive it and earn some karma points by doing my bit on the clearing.

Either coming along with someone else or dragging my Delica down?
