FWIW, I believe the cable I bought was this one: https://nicegear.nz/product/ftdi-cable-5v
Worked without any issues if I'm remembering correctly.

Re: disco 1 abs light on, grrrr
Here's how it works: When the truck has no ABS faults and you turn your ignition on, the ABS light will come on, and stay on until you drive forward at more than 4 kph (or whatever it is - I usually hit it going down my short driveway). When the truck has a fault and you turn your ignition on, the A...

End of Defenders run with Offlimits at Waiouru. If you are interested at this link (https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B209xZxYK7f5OWl1OWxTNjRzTEU&usp=sharing) is a KML file with GPS waypoints that I recorded over the weekend. Import into Google earth to see where one of the groups went. To...

Re: 17 - 18th Jan 2015
LROCA had the yearly trials on Sunday out by Waitakere. The rain on Saturday was enough to make the grass wet and difficult for some (me). About 20 trucks took part - Series, Defenders, Disco's, a Rangie and an RRC. The final event was a low-ratio race and the "red-mist" descended for quit...

Re: discovery transfer box
My understanding on this is somewhat limited, but as you haven't had any other answers I'll have a go. What I understand and, from my experience with my D1, is that the transfer box can need to be what is called "unwound" to get the centre diff-lock to disengage and the light to go out. As...

WANTED: Dog/Cargo barrier for Disco 1 ES
I need a dog/cargo guard to fit my '95 ES Disco. The guard is specific to this model because of the rear aircon making the space just behind the rear seats narrower than the models without it. The part number would be STC7570. This isn't for a dog BTW, just to stop stuff potentially flying around wh...

Thanks Guys,
not even vaguely worried about the shiney comment and thanks for pointing out the Manukau 4wd club. Was thinking about LROCA - but maybe both!
Cheers

New from South Auckland
Hi All,
long time lurker and new member now that I have a truck - a 95 Disco V8 with 2" lift.
Friends tell me it's a shiney, but that's OK by me.
Mostly it will be used for taking the kids places for scouting and such stuff. Also looking to join a club and do some trips.
Cheers
